This is one of the owners at my job car. It's a 2008 cayman non turbo. A few people from here bought into this energy drink company called JoJo Water. Here is what they did to his car... I like the wheels not crazy about the car tho..

Love Porsches. I have Leffingwell's Motorbook on Porsche history in my book case. The fastest I've ever traveled on a public roadway was in a DP935 Turbo (slant nose) way back in the 80s. That thing was/is a monster!

Nawww Scotty, I actually really like 928's, but only late model ones with the 5.4l engine, so GTS's and S4's only :)
They're not a true sports car, but a superb GT, and they were so far ahead of their time when released I just admire them. My father's buddy owning a couple during my childhood obviously has some swing to my opinion, they used to feel so fast! :)

Here's a couple of wierd ones for you, all 928 based;

Ute;

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FoXyvaPSnVk/R1u4B_WU0VI/AAAAAAAAdFk/S6IKnF1VdqI/s400/Carscoop_POrschePCT92.jpg

And this, off road Porsching! :);
http://www.tredairmotors.com/wp-content/928-4x4.jpg

But here is a nice unmolested GTS (early 90's);

the Porsche 930 "Slant Nose" is the best damn Porsche of the 80's --- My dad had a 930 clone basically like scott's srt clone in comparison. It had everything except the engine and he never modded the engine either although I think he should have :) Maybe one day I'll scan one of the few pics that I have of it.

Yup he sure was LOL ... He had a navy blue cabriolet basically a stock 1984 911, slapped on the widebody, whale tail and slant nose with the pop up headlights and he had himself a bionafied clone LOL

Drove it until it had 125k miles on it, too..

pjs1965
08-06-2009, 04:58 PM
Irf, 959 was a great car. Limited production, lightning fast. Good collector car too if you can find one.
I have great memories of a 1972 914/6 a neighbor had. I think he put like 2000 miles on it in 10 years. Sounded too much like a VW for my tastes.

Gee, hasn't their been some great Porshes over the years.
I'm currently saving up for one, this particualr car here, I've known the car for the last 5 years, and they're a superb tarmac rally car, quite cheap to campaign once you've got over the initial purchase price (unless you bin it of course!) lol

I have to chime in...I love porsches b/c that is what I grew up with! Here are the ones I can remember that my Dad owned:

98 C4S - Red, tan leather...money b/c air-cooler - best sounding
01 Turbo - White with dark brown/saddle interior - best to drive DUH
?? 914 - Petrol Blue (only heard stories about this one, I believe 78) - ??
91 C2 - Basic
92 America Roadster - Red, black top. This car was amazing...turbo body/wheels/breaks - this is my favortie all-around
94 Targa - Yellow, black interior...great car but i was too young to enjoy :(

He has owned 7, but these are the 6 I remember. He was bitten by the bug early and has never looked back! No porsche currently, although yesterday he did test-drive a 2010 C4S w/ PDK and said it was amazing!! If you ever watch old Seinfelds check the poster in the background that is of an 89 Turbo from the rear and it is air-borne. They did a marketing campaign and this was sent to potential buyers (my Dad's is in his garage with his last name on the license plate HAHA)...it worked with my dad, took him 12 years but he did buy a Turbo!!! Great marketing...when I go home next i will take a pic of the poster

Next to the 959 the GT3RS is my favorite Porsche...they are so sexy and capable.

A woman just bought a BLK/BLK 09 GT3 at the above mentioned dealer, drove it for 100 miles and returned it...said it was "too harsh of a ride" HAHAHA what the F was she expecting? And she test drove it. Anyone need a low mileage BLK GT3? It was registered so it is USED :)

My friend was a lot man for a while there, talk about a sweet job, he transported their top of the line cars back and forth between rockville and baltimore. We were at the track Sunday when a really sweet white R8 with the carbon side blades turned up..... he did about 4 laps before it popped a coolant hose off and totally cooked the thing, blew the head gaskets and everything, REALLY cooked it! The tarmac rallies I compete is have HEAPS of beautiful Porches. Traditionally, the Porsche museum in Germany sends one special car a year, to actually race :)
The last one they sent was this multi million dollar RS60 Syder :)

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_j5YMO-ms6rk/SdfCg6qVsqI/AAAAAAAAEcA/Bga2CUvv2to/2009_PorscheMuseum_008.jpg

We start the race stages nose to tail, and the turbo Porsches are amazing to watch from behind at the starts, they get massive traction, and have massive torque, so they really rip at the Tarmac :)

This is Jimmy Richard's GT2, he's won the event 10 times. he's quick!

Mate, it is beautiful :)
It was amazing to see it compete for six days, including rain and some snow! The driver and navigator has wet weather gear over their race suits :)
They pushed it hard too, no pussy-footing around.
The driver was the curator of the mueum, he brings them every year :)
Mad props to Porsche I reckon!

First Drive: 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo is Stuttgart's quickest car yet (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/02/2010-porsche-911-turbo-first-drive/)

It's faster to 60 mph than a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, McLaren F1 or Ferrari Enzo. Porsche's fastest offerings, including the Carrera GT, GT2 and road-going 911 GT1 "Strassenversion" will only see its LED tail lamps during a typical sprint. Only the unlikely – make that incomprehensible – meeting of an SSC Ultimate Aero or Bugatti Veyron at a stop light will concern this car's owner that he or she has met a worthy adversary. The vehicle is the new seventh-generation 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo. Sporting a new 500-horsepower engine mated to the automaker's lightning-fast dual-clutch PDK transmission, the all-wheel drive coupe devours the magic 0-60 mph benchmark in less than 3.2 seconds.

I drove my Dad's 01 TT a lot (about 1K miles) and I cannot imagine something that is .6-1.0 sec quicker 0-60 (01' Turbo came in at 3.8-4.2 depending on which magazine you read)! That Turbo scared the crap out of me and this would make me wet myself (I think i already did :))...$hit stick a lump of coal down my throat and id shit a diamond!
