ok i went and helped a friend out last night a so he could get a plow truck that he bought and part of the deal was he got a 5.2 that came out of a 1994 grand Cherokee he told me that i can have it for towing his plow truck back i thought this was cool because i have been wanting to do a motor swap but have not had the cash to buy one now one has fallen in my lap the question at hand is will this 318 bolt right up i do know that the 5.2 is a option for my year jeep but what i dont know is that is the trans will bolt up and is the computer the same can i just do the swap and go what els is involved in swapping from a 1993 4.0 to a 1994 5.2 thanks guys

all so i am looking to keep this as cheep as possible i am hoping that it is going to be as simpale as jut pulling the old out and putting the new in

I don't know about the bolt up issues, but you will need a computer for the v8, not sure about a fuel pump.

the trans wont bolt up, there different im pretty sure. need a new computer but i think the fuel pumps are the same. you will have to do some wiring ide get a harness from a GC from the engines year with the computer. and i think the fans are different you might have to get the shroud from a GC with the 5.2 from your year.

wouldn't be to hard if you can get a cheap trans and harness. oh yah and i think the mounts are different im not exactly sure. but they have adapters for them.

Now you need to find a grand that is needin a engine swap you would be set

uh X2 on the trans and no the PCMs are diff. i did this swap. and it was actually easier than i thought.. as long as you have everything that comes with the motor i.e. trans, wiring, pcm, motor mounts, etc, here is my writeup, if u need anything else just ask i am always willing to help out a fellow Jeeper..

There is nothing BOLT on/in about this swap. You need a ZJ transmission, and obv as you know the wiring. I dont think there are any adapters to put a 5.2 on a AW4 trans or AX15 or any XJ tranny for that matter.
