Re: 9/8/10 Jeep engineers chat

I like the new jeep alot but do not like the the trim around the wheel well,Why was it added it looks like something that will fade and discolor over time making the jeep look old. Does jeep plan on painting this in future models.

Chris

Re: 9/8/10 Jeep engineers chat

This might have got lost in the shuffle: My question concerns my 08 SRT Jeep. Fantastic vehicle. The best I have ever owned. Working for Chrysler, I have owned many fine vehicles.

1- What is the temp that the "high trans temp" warning comes on.

2- What is the direction of flow from the trans to the stock trans cooler? Upper hose in the cooler and lower hose out?

Many thanks and I can't wait for news of the 2012 SRT Jeep!!!!!

Re: 9/8/10 Jeep engineers chat

I'll repost, these seemed to have been skipped over possibly by accident. Questions from another member but pertaining to a lot of us...

Questions:

1)It appears that many of us who ordered Overlands have seen them built, only to see them languish in quality control inspections (sometimes for weeks). Was something found that needed correction, and if so, what was it?

2)A source at Avi – Vls told me the current batch of GC’s just got back from “repair” and that “they all went out but were back now” can you tell me what the repairs were? Were they having TSBs applied or is there something else we should know?

3) What is the process after a vehicle is "shipped to storage", what stages are involved? why some vehicles are "stuck" for 2-3-4 weeks?

4) Is Jeep planning to allow the customers check the status of a vehicle online?

Re: 9/8/10 Jeep engineers chat

To all the members.. even though it might be a lot to read.. please try to read the thread before asking a question... Some questions being posted later in the thread are duplicates of ones already asked/answered taking away from other members questions who haven't been answered yet. I'm not sure how long the engineers will be around for thats why I state that.. Not that everyones questions aren't important, they all are.. just trying to get the most of the time we have with them!

Re: 9/8/10 Jeep engineers chat

One of the topics most often discussed relating to the new WK is the mysterious "disappearance" of the front ELSD. It's mentioned in the early literature and manuals, it has a part number, yet it never appeared when production started. The off-road community feels a lot of capability has been lost without the front ELSD. What was the reason it was decided to not use it, or will it reappear someday?

We did increase the V6 towing capacity from 3500 to 5000 lbs on the 2011 model. This was accomplished with the engine higher torque, standard oil cooler, radiator density, and axle ratio. The V8 does have a heavy duty cooling system, higher torque, and different axle ratios for 7200-7400 lb capacity.
