Talking Cooling fan overworking

Question:

Cooling fan on my 3ltr Diesel 2015 JGC continuously runs like crazy shortly after start up. Temp gauge shows temperature normal.

Anyone else with similar issue.

Regards,

Vostro Swift

Melbourne, Australia

Re: Cooling fan overworking

Had the fans run at full speed on 3 occasions, in cooler weather. But after 100kmh run. Restarted at lights and back to normal. All happened after 10,000km service. 3ltr diesel. Interested in this thread, otherwise if it becomes more than just a Jeep thing I guess I'll be taking back to the dealer.

Red face Re: Cooling fan overworking

Hello redjgc:

Same thing here in the mild/cooler weather with the fan. It stops after a while then it goes back to normal.
I'll be contacting the dealer first thing Monday morning to get it rectified. Purchased the vehicle in late May this year with only 57kms on the clock and out of the showroom so, there's no reason for them to dispute it and then putting it through their starscan/computer diagnostics to find the error. More than likely a computer recalibration needed to properly activate the fan according to the right conditions etc.

Re: Cooling fan overworking

Hi.

I bought my MY2014 3.0CRD recently at 34 000 km (I live in Belgium).
The first owner had it serviced before the sales (12/2016) and S49 recall was applied.
I had a similar fan behavior twice, without any overtemp or excessive engine load.
I read somewhere else that it happened after S49 recall, and that an update of the S49 is available.
I did not go to the dealer yet, but I'll ask them next time ...

Edit :

Re: Cooling fan overworking

Keep in mind that the electric fan works "with" the A/C. If the freon pressure gets up the fan's will come on even when cold out side. And on most cars the A/C comes on with the heater to dehumidify the air.

The A/C light never came ON ...
The fan came ON once when the engine was below its normal working temp !!!

Re: Cooling fan overworking

Might it be related to DPF regeneration ?

I had the "chance" to record the DPF percentage yesterday at 71.9%, and today fan started after 2 km driving ...
10 km later, at work, fan still ON while idling, then stopped when I was checking the engine datas with Torque app.
DPF percentage dropped at 23.9 % after refreshing the page !!!

All the story with details :
