Not sure i can make the chat but here's my question/sugestion/rant...
But before I start I want to welcome all the Jeep engineers that came on their time to answer our questions. I also want to thank Scott and the rest of the JeepGarage.org staff for putting this together.
I'm a mechanical engineer and I can not understand why the mounting of the WK headlights was designed so difficult to either remove or install. Yes it is easy if you remove the front bumper... But why go through that when a simple change at the bottom mounting location would have solved that?
Remember how simple it was for the WJ platform? Just one long bolt to deal with for mounting or removing the headlight.
I just hope it's easier on the WK2 platform.
My point is why make simple things more complicated than they need to be...?
And why do some people have to pay the dealer extra hours in labor to have a headlight changed by having to remove the front bumper?
I just don't understand... My job here at work is to design as efficient as possible and keeping in mind the people that needs to make the parts, assemble the parts and service the parts.
And yes my resume is up to date in case you guys need me over there overlooking at those little things....
Is any one of you guys (Jeep engineers) going to be at IMTS-2010
in Chicago next week?
Thank you for your time.
