Re: 12 Jeep GC High pitch humming noise from Gauges?!

i have the same high pitched noise when the vehicle is on and idling. the dealer claimed it's the power steering pump and mine has been replaced once because they topped off the fluid with the wrong power steering fluid. the dealer tried to say it's normal right after they told me they have never heard of the problem. i'm getting chrysler involved and hope to get this fixed.

it's SOOOO annoying!!

Please keep us posted! It most probably is the power steering pump in your case as well - if you turn the steering wheel you should notice the volume and pitch change briefly. That's what happens with my Jeep at least.

Anyone else experience this issue and have any luck with their dealer fixing it?

Re: 12 Jeep GC High pitch humming noise from Gauges?!

I originally clicked on this thread because I thought it was related to what I hear. However, it sounds like it's different.

What I hear is when the vehicle is turned off.

It sounds like a very faint electronic noise like some sort of robot cricket chirping away. My guess, it's some sort of feedback from either the alarm system or the proximity detection for the key fob. I hear the same noise with my wireless Qi charger for my phone.

What I assume is, it's in low power mode at that point and using some kind of pulse to ping out at a regular interval, about once a second.

It's very faint, so many people might not even hear it since it's also somewhat high pitched, much like the whine that older tube TVs always made when turned on.

I don't think it's any sort of problem, but I'd be interested to know what is actually making the sound.

I just think it's a crappy HVAC fan....nothing we can do about it. I've had two WK2 GCs, both have sounded the same

I have this too. It comes from the area of the footwell undeneath the glovebox, right?

However it's separate from the issue the OP is talking about, which seems to be power-steering related since it changes volume and pitch when the steering wheel is moved.

Re: 12 Jeep GC High pitch humming noise from Gauges?!

Hijacked thread?

Well my high pitch hum from glovebox went almost quiet after installing new cabin air filter. I still hear some of it but not as unpleasant as before.

Purolator filter with same quality/materials as OEM. I think replacing filter often would reduce chances of having this high pitch noise *from the ac blower

Thanks for the tip. I had a slight but starting to annoy me noise from right side dash area. Installed a new cabin air filter a few days ago and the noise is gone. BTW, you do not need to remove glove box to change the filter. Some of the U Tube instructions show the box being removed.
