12 LTD headlights under Warranty... Otherwise $250-$350

My 2012 GC LTD with the Bi Xenon headlight lights was repaired yesterday. All with in 36 month warranty. Otherwise it would have been $250 to $350 to change 2 lights and a ballast. Anyone keeping their GCs past 36 months should definitely get the Chrysler (not 3rd party) extended warranty. They said to get it at 34-35 months so you don't run the risk of going over 36 months ... and then pay more.

What was wrong with them?

Bulbs and ballasts are fairly cheap, you could buy higher quality bulbs for $50 or so online. Ballasts tend to be the pricey side of the whole deal.

FWIW, HIDs are supposed to be "lifetime" parts. My $40 DDM kit lasted 5+ years without issue, if Jeep's can't last over 3 years they really need to get their quality in check.

I work with quite a few ex Chrysler service personnel, they said for the 300's it is almost 1k to replace the bulbs and ballasts! You have to take into account the Chrysler markup on the parts too.

Lifetime MaxCare extended warranty doesn't cover light bulbs.

I love to read fine print.

Good to know that EX Warranty does not cover lights!
