'12 Overland sudden MAJOR starting issues.

Hey guys,

So here's what's going on. I bring my '12 Overland in for warranty work to Rancho Jeep in San Diego. The sun roof needed replacing as it wouldn't open or close properly and finally got stuck open. After it taking them over a month to get all the parts in for the TOTAL replacement… they complete it 2 weeks later. The morning I'm supposed to go in and pick it up, it mysteriously won't start. Mind you, there were ZERO starting issues prior. First the EVIC shows low fob battery. They change the battery. Won't start. Then they reprogram a new fob. Won't start. They reach out to the factory who instructs them to replace the remote start module. Won't start. They then instruct them to replace the push button start module. Won't start. It WILL however start via remote key fob, just not from the start button. So it's still sitting there. It's been almost a month and I'm beyond livid. They're now waiting to hear back from the factory "design" team as to next steps. Anyone have any thoughts or solutions for the geniuses over there? I really find it hard to believe that something wasn't accidentally "done" to my vehicle why under their care… it's too strange of a coincidence. Fortunately I have a lifetime warranty that covers a rental. The ONLY saving grace at this point.

Thanks,

B

Further note: Yes, the WIN module was replaced first.

Thanks,

I had this happen once after replacing a sunroof. In my case, I left the rear passive entry antenna unplugged. It's under the trim panel by the tailgate latch. I would think that if this was the case, they would figure it out easily enough. If you pop out the start button can you start it with the fob inserted?

I don't know if they've tried that, but I've thought about that… my plan is to drive there today and get some answers. I'll suggest the rear passive entry antenna as well… would that have been effected during the replacement of the panorama sun roof?

Re: '12 Overland sudden MAJOR starting issues.

Just called and left them a message. Within 5 minutes the service tech calls back and said a new tech was put on it last night and found the problem. Guess what it was? The rear passive antenna connection!!!!!!!!! So now I've lost weeks and have two new modules over a stupid mistake. UGH.

Now to go pick it up and make SURE it's all back together properly with no shakes, rattles or issues.

Oh, and now I've got two new programmed key fobs as well.

Finger's crossed and thanks for the intel!!!!

Wish I had posted up here sooner!
