'14 Fogging Headlights

Picked up my SUV last night at like 8PM finally. Took forever b/c of the people in front of me with the finance manager.

Anyways, yes it's been pouring rain here in Seattle. But by the time I got home after dinner, both headlights were fogging up at the bottom. If it was just 1 side, I would think it's just a fluke, but since it was both, it has me a little worried.

I know someone will say it's normal for vented headlights to do this. But that seems like some sort of bullshit comment because all new headlights are vented and they don't fog up. At least from my personal experience.

This pic was taken about an hr or 2 after I noticed the issue. But I could tell it was clearing up.

This morning when I left, the driver side seems to be cleared up completely, but the passenger side is almost done. Just a fluke or needs to be fixed? Other people with same issue?

Re: '14 Fogging Headlights

This has been discussed many times in other threads. It was cold and raining the day I picked up my JGC. Same fogged headlights. Six months later, and it's never happened again. I check often, especially after washing or driving in the rain. In fact my dealer, who I pointed it out to at delivery, told me if it recurred to bring it in and they would replace the headlights.

Ive had other brands fog when new as well....Lexus comes to mind. Anyvented headlight will fog in extreme temp changes or when new.

It was pouring rain when I picked up mine 2 weeks ago. The headlights had fog when I got home, but haven't done it since

Mine actually fogged up quite badly after going through automated car wash. First time I did see that happen since I picked up the car 6 months ago.

Is that normal as well? It did clear up the next day.

Re: '14 Fogging Headlights

I've had mine through the carwash dozens of times and haven't seen that happen. I wouldn't worry about it if it clears up after driving for a while. One question, was it both headlights or just one? I think I'd be more concerned if it were just one.

Re: '14 Fogging Headlights

Just noticed the headlights are fogged up again tonight.

Hasn't rained in a week. Just cold/cool. Not impressed by these "vented" headlamps.

Isn't this going to cause watermarks on the inside and make the headlights even more crappy?

Re: '14 Fogging Headlights

Vented Headlight do that.
Imagine water leaking in a seal beam. They will fail for sure.
But with Jeep it is vented and ready for the outdoors.
Enjoy

The HID housings on my '14 Summit fog up about 80% to the degree that they blind oncoming traffic- looks like my brights are on. Had them replaced once ($6k in parts for the pair) after I got a warning from the Iowa State Patrol. Second set now, and they fog even worse, ESPECIALLY when weather conditions do not merit such behavior. Evidence the lowest bidder got the job- now my second set is actually cutting out. Mine has been at the dealer for over a week now for its list of recurring issues, this being one of them, so now we sit back and wait... Again.
