Re: 14 GC Summit, Problems & Problems w/ Dealer

I have a cap less gas tank. No cap for the door to hit. The door is actually bent or not aligned with the curve of the body. I talked to the salesman I bought the truck from and he said they were experiencing some issues with the service department and they are trying to work it out. He's going to call me back Monday to let me know what I should do. The seat is fixed but whatever it is that's rolling around in the door is still there. They said they couldn't reproduce the sound but as I pulled out of the parking lot picking the truck up, pow, there it was.

Did you immediately turn around and grab your service advisor so he could hear the rattle for himself?

Unless you are in the middle of nowhere and there are no other dealers around, go to a different dealer. Many jeep dealer service departments are bad but when the dealer admits their service department has got problems that is a red flag to go to a different one. Early model 2014 here so I have been through it, different dealer can make a huge difference.

But now you have a capless can of hornet spray! What next?

I'll be quicker on the draw when I encounter them.

The dealership is there to make money?

Sounds like the Jeeps dealerships in my area, and I totally agree with just going to a different dealership instead of fighting with the one that gives you poor service. As long as there are people out there that reward poor service, the crappy dealerships will never change.

I too try to make repairs/perform maintenance myself as much as possible.

So you are using the hornet spray cap as a kind of 'dust cap' for the capless fuel filler inlet? Any particular brand of spray or are they all the same cap design?

Re: 14 GC Summit, Problems & Problems w/ Dealer

Looks like any of yah larger caps will work. Makes a nice dust/water shield.

No, they called me after they closed and I picked it up on a weekend when they're not open.

According to some, their sole reason for existance is to make life as miserable as possible for you.
