'14 Hydro-EPS Fluid Level

I finished my first 5K maintenance on the vehicle. While I was checking fluid levels, I noticed that the power steering fluid level was below Min... it was actually at the seam where the two halves of the bottle meet. I know PS fluid is usually checked when it's warm because it expands quite a bit when it gets hot... But Hydro-EPS doesn't run full-blast all the time.

Anyway, how full is your reservoir?

Noticed mine is right at the minimum, once I saw it just above (both times engine was on and after I drove it). when/how do you check? Thinking it would need a small amount just to top it off (maybe 50 mL?)

Checked, mine at the max. Will flush it when I get a chance and refill with Amsoil

Re: '14 Hydro-EPS Fluid Level

hi just realized something, and someone correct me, but isn't only the 3.6 L V6 electro-hydrualic and the 5.7L may have a different system (not sure about the diesel)?

Yup, the diesels are electro-hydraulic

Re: '14 Hydro-EPS Fluid Level

The 5.7 (and 6.4) use a standard mechanical pump (engine belt driven) hydraulic system for the power steering.

Mine was at the seam level but a slow leak was found. They need to replace my steering pump. Said it had been leaking for a long time.

Re: '14 Hydro-EPS Fluid Level

Mine has been a hair below the minimum since I got it two and a half years ago. Hasn't changed at all, and never been topped off by dealer either.

Not sure. It's coming from the passenger side (that's where my wife found the oil slick on the garage floor). The Jeep had been sitting for 2 weeks, prior to that, we hadn't seen any oil on the ground. I'll have to climb under to locate it for ya.

Re: '14 Hydro-EPS Fluid Level

The techs said it was the "high pressure hose", not the pump which had been leaking where it joined the pump. It's been replaced and we'll see if it continues to leak.
