14' Overland now only accelerates in straight line?

Sup', Came on this forum asking if anyone else has ever experienced this and what the resolution was? or at least any sort of thoughts on what it could be.

My 3.6L Overland will only accelerate or reverse if my steering wheel is straight (And the front wheels are perfectly ahead). If I rotate my steering wheel just about 20 degrees and accelerate, It immediately just revs up and all four wheels stop spinning entirely.

This happens in any mode (Auto, snow, traction control off/on, etc) EXCEPT for 4wd LOW, in which it works and i'm able to drive the vehicle around (although i'm not entirely sure how safe driving in this mode is on the street, so I've just stopped moving the car entirely.)

Background: It was snowing in my area, and during a short trip I got stuck for a couple of seconds on some snow that was covering a indent in the road, and did some wiggling back and forth trick to get unstuck. A couple of seconds later my EVIC shows "AWD needs service" once and never showed up again. When I attempt to drive outside of 4WD it also occasionally disallows me to shift into park or reverse even at a stand still ("Speed too high to shift")

I've only actually got around 10k miles on it as well, so I'm going to my dealer in a week or two for a diagnostic. This was the first time it was used in the snow.

I also have an OBD Diagnostic scanner (albeit a Bluetooth -> Android one) and scanned for any error codes, none found.

Anyone got any idea what it could be? It almost seems like an electrical issue? Transmission still seemed to shift properly in 4WD low, and i'm able to turn my wheels and accelerate without any noticeable loss in power...

Really praying anything this could be is covered by warranty.

If you're under powertrain warranty it should be covered. If you want to try something in the meantime, disconnect your battery for a half hour and then reattach the cable. That might reboot control modules and cure the problem. If not, it's off to the dealer. Check your manual for 4WD low allowed speeds. You don't want to burn up your transfer case.

Re: 14' Overland now only accelerates in straight line?

Okay, er. Yeah I was going to try that right now thanks for the tip.
Except when I moved the car back out of my parking space slightly to rearrange it in preparation; when I tried to put it back into park it stayed on neutral and made a horrible chattering noise for a couple of seconds then finally slid into park.
Seems like a mechanical issue, off to the dealer. Damn.

Sounds like the transmission is spinning but the transfer case isn't. Center diff and/or tcase clutch probably.

Damn, for sure sounds like something is toast. Should be covered under the powertrain/drivetrain warranty I would imagine.
