1989 Jeep Wrangler Islander losing power

My Jeep Wrangler Islander loses power when I try to accelerate, I'll have to keep pushing on the gas pedtal to get it going the right speed of the road, it has been backfiring to I don't what wrong with it I was hoping somebody on this forum could help..some people have told me that it might be the cat converter

Here's a pic of my jeep I would get a better one but I'm not home right now

You are in the 2011+ Jeep Grand Cherokee section of the forum. You should post in the Wrangler section for your model.
