Re: 1st Oil Change Disaster

Had a similimar stupid mess up in my truck once. It wasn't even the first change I did on it but I lost the drain plug gasket in my drain pan only to find it AFTER putting in the new oil. Had to pull the plug, put finger in hole, have wifey put gasket on plug then replace plug.. Lost a lil bit of oil but was still annoyed to have something stupid like that happen after Doing tons of oil changes..

I think this is a common issue with filters these days. I changed oil for years in many different vehicles no problem then it happened on my 05 mustang. I blamed the crappy filter that the used car dealer had used but then it nearly happened again with a purolator. The old gaskets just get stuck on the engine. Apparently they used to glue them on the filter and that prevented this issue.

Re: 1st Oil Change Disaster

I did that also............about 25 years ago on a Toyota Celica. Except in my case, I spilled the oil all over my Mom's driveway! Needless to say she was not a hppy camper and had a devil of a time cleaning it all up. Stupid stuck old oil gasket!
