Re: 2011 Cherokee TPMS wont reset

Found this doing a Google search.

My understanding is if your TPMS trips due to a low pressure in a single tire, or if you have to replace a sensor - you sometimes need to follow this proceedure to "reset" the system. Your dealer can also reset the system with the scan tool, or a TPMS reset tool. All (4) tires need to be reset at the same time:

* Pressure up all (4) tires to the maximum PSI listed on the tire sidewall (do not exceed the maximum)

* Drive for approximately 15 minutes (system will reset).

* Reduce the tire pressure to the proper manufacturers recommendation for all (4) tires. The warning light should now be reset.

Re: 2011 Cherokee TPMS wont reset

28 LBS is still too low. Doesn't the sticker say 31 or 33? Something like that.

You haven't crossed the "threshold" for it to turn off yet.

Re: 2011 Cherokee TPMS wont reset

There are many different wheel and tire combos. It's always best to check the placard on the inside of the drivers door for the correct infation pressure. But yes 28 PSI is too low.

Also keep in mind I have found the cheap auto part store Chinese made air pressure gauges to be insanely inaccurate. I have a high end gauge which matches my EVIC exactly. I have two cheap Chinese gauges one of which reads 30 PSI when the tire ony has 20 PSI More Chinese garbage.

Had to fill to 36psi before it finally reset. Even then it took a few miles to reset.

this....

36 psi is the cut off for the warning. Took about 2 miles of driving to turn off.

Re: 2011 Cherokee TPMS wont reset

yes, 28 is definitely too low. My light just came on when one of my front tires went down to 29. made sure all 4 were at 36-37 and the light went off by the time i got three houses down the block from me!

Re: 2011 Cherokee TPMS wont reset

Yes it often takes a few miles of driving, the pressure is not constantly read, but sampled maybe on a 5-10- 20 minute interval when moving. So you need to wait until the next sample time before the new pressure is read.

I had one tire dip below the threshold when the temperature dropped below zero. Refilled to 36psi as read by an accurate gauge and after a mile I could see the EVIC change to the new pressure and shortly thereafter reset the alert.
