2011 GC V6 P0018 P000D Dealership cant fix
I have a 2011 WK2 with 3.6l V6. 83k miles. 2 weeks ago I got a check engine light all of a sudden and it idled rough intermittently. Pulled the codes, P000d and P0018.
P0018 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 2 Sensor A)
P000D Bank 2 Camshaft 2 Position Slow Response
I still have powertrain warranty for 2 more months so I brought it to the dealer. They said if it is mechanical it will be covered, if it is electonic (sensors,e tc) it will not. OK, I said.
They called me that day saying it is the cam phasers. It will be covered under warranty but it is a big job. OK.
I dont hear from them in 2 days so I call. They say the new cam phaser didnt fix the problem, but maybe it is a bad cam phaser, they order another one.
2 more days go buy, I call. They say it is still not fixed and they say it is a bad PCM. $595 for the part plus an hour labor. I asked if they were 100% sure that a new PCM would fix it. They said yes, so I gave the go ahead.
That was a week ago. They now say the new PCM wont take a program from their system. So I told them to put my old PCM back and they said Chrysler is involved and that they dont want them to do that because they figure the old PCM may have been responsible for the bad cam phasers in the first place. They also say they have a level 4 tech working on it now (whatever that means) and that the tech was going to try to program it on Saturday when nobody else is on their system. I say OK.
Now it is the next Monday and I have not heard anything. What options do I have here? I have honestly never experienced a new-ish car taking this long to be fixed by a dealership. Do I ask for the car back? Do I have the right to bring it to another dealership in the area? Does anybody have any idea what is going on with either my jeep or the dealership?
Like I said, I never was in this predicament so I figured I would reach out to you guys. Thanks
