2011 GC V6 P0018 P000D Dealership cant fix

Hey guys,

I have a 2011 WK2 with 3.6l V6. 83k miles. 2 weeks ago I got a check engine light all of a sudden and it idled rough intermittently. Pulled the codes, P000d and P0018.

P0018 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 2 Sensor A)

P000D Bank 2 Camshaft 2 Position Slow Response

I still have powertrain warranty for 2 more months so I brought it to the dealer. They said if it is mechanical it will be covered, if it is electonic (sensors,e tc) it will not. OK, I said.

They called me that day saying it is the cam phasers. It will be covered under warranty but it is a big job. OK.

I dont hear from them in 2 days so I call. They say the new cam phaser didnt fix the problem, but maybe it is a bad cam phaser, they order another one.

2 more days go buy, I call. They say it is still not fixed and they say it is a bad PCM. $595 for the part plus an hour labor. I asked if they were 100% sure that a new PCM would fix it. They said yes, so I gave the go ahead.

That was a week ago. They now say the new PCM wont take a program from their system. So I told them to put my old PCM back and they said Chrysler is involved and that they dont want them to do that because they figure the old PCM may have been responsible for the bad cam phasers in the first place. They also say they have a level 4 tech working on it now (whatever that means) and that the tech was going to try to program it on Saturday when nobody else is on their system. I say OK.

Now it is the next Monday and I have not heard anything. What options do I have here? I have honestly never experienced a new-ish car taking this long to be fixed by a dealership. Do I ask for the car back? Do I have the right to bring it to another dealership in the area? Does anybody have any idea what is going on with either my jeep or the dealership?

Like I said, I never was in this predicament so I figured I would reach out to you guys. Thanks

Re: 2011 GC V6 P0018 P000D Dealership cant fix

So what was the outcome? I have a 2011 GC as well and at 182k miles I was getting a P0308 for the cylinder #2 misfire. When the shop finished replacing the head under my extended warranty within a few hours new CEL codes came on P000D and P0018 so they replaced the camshaft phaser after filing another warranty claim because this was a known issue and "not related" to the head replacement. I called bullshit and eventually they waived my deductible and replaced it. Didnt even make it out of the parking lot before the CEL came back on with the same codes and now they are trying to figure out why? So 4 days last week they had my jeep for the head replacement and now 3 days this week and it's getting old

Re: 2011 GC V6 P0018 P000D Dealership cant fix

I believe that they replaced the cam shaft. It fixed the issue, and was covered under my powertrain warranty. I just had another CEL come on last week. p0171 p0131 p0172 p2097 and P0300.

Just picked the car up from the dealer yesterday. O2 sensor bad, pcv hose and pcv valve. We'll see how long I go without another problem.

Re: 2011 GC V6 P0018 P000D Dealership cant fix

This has been my first jeep and for the most part it has been good to me as we've had it for 5 years and put 182k miles on it. While this model has been plagued with issues that are expensive repairs (TIPM, rocker arm replacement, head replacement and now this camshaft issue) Chrysler has been good with their warranty. I had never heard of an unlimited mileage lifetime warranty which was a huge selling feature to us when we bought it. If they keep offering it we will keep buying it but I hope to have a my Jeep a few more years!
