It was about 40ft long and I had the gas to the floor . I used to do it all the time in my exploder. Anyway, I heard a slushing sound (water rushing forward) when I applied the breaks at a moderate pressure. Sounded like it was coming from under my driver's seat or above my head. Being lazy, I didn't want to take it to the dealership. I also had ants . So I unbolted my seat, carefully maneuvered it out of the door (but not carefully enough ) and set it on the ground. I popped off the trim around the driver's carpet, and pulled the WET carpet out. I didn't notice the water b/c of rubber floor mats. I pulled out the plastic floor board. There it was, about 4" of water on the inside of the body, under my driver's seat. I pulled the 2 drain plugs and let it drain. Almost like they were expecting water to find it's way there. Its a jeep so some people will treat it like one. anyway, i dried it out with a towel and washed the mildew smelling carpet in the carwash and left it out for a few days to dry. Then Lysoled and febreezed it and replaced. Everything is fine now.

Also, I've taken the back seats and lower rear trim out. The spare tire and shroud, side panels and everything down to the carpet and outside fenders. Everything was dry and had no smell. I had to ditch that crappy sub for a better one. Haven't noticed any other leaks, sorry for rambling, hope my info helps.
Not sure if you will get this since the post is quite old...where are the drain plugs located? Do I have to remover seats, etc to get to them?

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee - Waterleak Diagnosis Procedures

Found a small amount of water under the battery in my new-to-me, 2013 JGCO? The battery will be PITA to remove. Have to get our son to help out his 75 year old dad.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee - Waterleak Diagnosis Procedures

Just bought a used 2011 JGC Laredo last night. Raining in Oregon and they washed vehicle off before we took home. Noticed a little water in side cargo plastic wells on rear passenger side. Wiped out dry. No moldy smell in car. Not sure if previous owner parked in garage at home and work so maybe that is why there is no smell? Checked again this morning and a little water in same plastic well. Bought at Car Max and they agreed to take to dealership to look at leak. I have 5 days for full refund once I get vehicle back from repair shop. Hope it gets fixed, l
really like the GC and do not want to return. Will report back what dealership finds.

What ever happened with this? I have a new to me 2011 JGC Overland. Had pretty good rain over the weekend, and today when pulling out of my driveway, a TON of water came rushing out of the headliner over the rear pass seat and rear cargo window. Just curious if it's blocked drain tubes or something more serious.

See here. (2) is on tailgate leaks. If the big grommet at the top of the tailgate is not sealing you can get a lot of water. Also if the tailgate seal is in backwards (don't ask).
