I am no expert but that looks like it started in the headliner!

Re: 2011 Jeep FIre ONE MONTH OLD !

Hmmm.....so now what? Got an Overland on order, probably being built as we speak. Worried enough about the "shudder" issue, and now this?

Guess I'll just stay tuned here, see what happens and how it plays out over the next few weeks, and decide if I'm gonna take my deposit back, or take delivery.

Wow calm down guys! This falls into the same category as everyone freaking out about the hydro locked engine thread. This is a fluke one time occurrence, but everyone is thinking their new jeep is going to burst into flames as well. Lets just see what pans out......

Thanks for posting this. I was reading through this post to see if someone found it because I remember someone stating that this also seemed to start in the headliner.

Re: 2011 Jeep FIre ONE MONTH OLD !

All I have to say is I have 11,000 Miles and havn't had one issue to make me rethink my purchase. People need to refrain from mass hysteria on an issue that has happend to .0000285% of the WK2's that are on the road. I am sure that these same issues happen to just about every new vehicle on the market. We just happened to be a little different; we are JEEP owners which makes us a bit different from any other vehicle owner (just simply better lol). What I am saying is since we are more involved and if your like me sit constatly on this forum the problem seems much worse than it truely is. The simple fact is Yes it did happen to 2 vehicles that we know of, but for people to start to throw the word RECALL out all it does is start a controlled panic. My advice to everyone is to enjoy the awesomeness of your WK2 instead of worrying about something that COULD happen.

Actually, looks like it's a two time occurrence. Hopefully no more. And yes, I'm anxious to see what "pans out".

Re: 2011 Jeep FIre ONE MONTH OLD !

Can we make this a "Sticky" at least until we get some answers on this problem?

Re: 2011 Jeep FIre ONE MONTH OLD !

Thankfully nobody got hurt, and this isn't the first nor the last time any vehicle is going to have a fire from a possible defect. Having had a long stint in the auto manufacturing industry, I've seen results of electrical and fuel line fires from BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Toyota, Honda, GM, Ford, Nissan, VW-Audi, etc. It's rare, but it happens.

That is assuming that the 2 WKs that have burned have had the story posted on this forum. MOST JEEP owners have never been on a Jeep Forum most are mommies and daddies who just bought the WK as a CAR and have no interest in JEEP.

How many more have burned that we have never heard about????? 10 or 100????

Im not a PANIC MODE guy but this is worth thinking about!!!!

Everyone... I loved my Jeep I am not trying to scare or turn anyone away from jeep. I personally do not feel safe in a Chrysler product , if you put yourself in my shoes I bet you will feel the same way. I do not and will not take my jeep back due to the damage and the significant value loss that has occurred to this unit. I will not say anything to get me in trouble because nothing I will say could get me in trouble or hurt my case this is simple the jeep caught on fire due to a manufacture defect. After researching this mine is not the only one that has done this. Jeep dealer was shocked that a fuse didn't blow. He pointed out a wire that he thought was the culprit. It was the sunroof power line the wire was completely burned before the connection to the sunroof. It might of been a different wire but this was from the service adviser. The dealer is not allowed to touch the unit Chrysler attorneys are involved now and have been in contact with mine. They are doing there best to make this right. Again this is a great car but I am requesting full Buyback. This is fair. This is the last comment I will make. To protect myself. But think about this what if I had kids in the back in car seats or my crippled grandmother that is a slow mover and the fire would of been so fast it would of wiped my family out. Save the smart comments this is serious.

If there were a hundred, there'd be a recall on it NOW. There aren't so many that 100 fires would be an irrelevant blip in the stats. We've heard of TWO. Of those, we only have details on ONE. Moreover, with Jeep looking over the one known vehicle, it tells me that they're determining the cause, then going to see if it applies to more than that one vehicle. It isn't the kind of thing where they're saying "oh, that again."

I have every confidence that Jeep will figure out what is going on; if necessary, they'll recall vehicles to fix the problem. Until then, I'll keep on parking mine in the garage right next to the dry newsprint, the oily rags, and the spare fuel. I won't worry, the fire extinguishers are in the locked cabinet right underneath the gunpowder.

I don't know what's going on around here, it's like the last couple weeks have had people all kinds of discontent and panicky. I'm waiting on somebody to say they got a paint chip and for others to chime in wondering if the body panels will be rusted through inside of 30,000 miles.

Re: 2011 Jeep FIre ONE MONTH OLD !

I feel for you...don't know why all lawyered up though since it is pretty simple. If you want a full buy back with your costs and inconvenience...no problem. They will buy it back (including title costs, etc.) and throw you a few grand for rental car etc. since it was a fire. But, in perspective, this type of thing happens with every car maker. And yes, grandma's do panic and die...unfortunately. But that didn't happen here, thankfully. Best wishes, I'm sure it will work out just fine.
