I apologize, I did not mean it to read that way & if you look I edited it as soon as I reread it, which was the same time as your post @ 8:57.

In the best case scenario, the insurance company would try and subrogate to get their money back from Chrysler. (and get your deductible back) I wouldn't hold my breath. While this is common between insurance companies, dealing with Chrysler and fighting over an alleged warranty issue might not be worth it for them.

But, wasn't this a comprehensive insurance claim? What was your deductible? $100, $250?

However, I'd still raise some cane too with the dealer! At the very least, you'll get a new seal installed.

Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

The original post says that the service manager showed him water in the intake plenum, but it doesn't mention anything about water being found inside any of the cylinders, which is what is needed to produce hydrolock, and once you have hydrolock the water stays in there until you do something to remove it, like pull the spark plugs and crank the engine. So unless they showed you the actual water inside the cylinder I would protest it and even go to court and present that information to a jury to let them decide whether the dealer is lying to you or not.

I was missing that seal on my WK2. I mentionned it to my dealer and they installed the seal no questions asked. Was a warranty item/job.

For info, there were at least two early threads about this under-hood driver's side rubber seal:

AND

AND especially this one:

Angry Re: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L Pentastar V6 BLOWN-UP ENGINE!

There were electrical failures leading up to the complete electrical and engine system shutting down while driving. After being to the dealer for serious vibration and countless other issues, including remote start needing complete replacement and tons of software updates and was still not fixed!!!!!!! Electrical failures started with key and key fob not funtioning, which caused vehicle to be inoperative. The major safety concern occured when vehicle completely stopped functioning while driving 70 mph on i-75, down the mountains with a trailer on the back. All headlights and electrical system shut down, power steering disabled, brakes locked, engine dead. Hazards wouldn't work and this was a major safety concern when verhicle is stuck in the middle of the road, with no lights and it was after midnight for us. We see another identical complaint here from another jeep owner. We have an attorney working on this now. It seems like a lot of consumers could/will be at serious risk with this vehicle. Especially for families with children. This lemon has been to 2 dealerships a total of 4 times for more than 16 issues. And the original serious vibration issue was never fixed. Heck, this crappy thing went back to the dealer the day after we bought it!!!! I will never have another jeep!!!! Visit www.SAFERCAR.gov to report problems with your vehicle!

Yikes, Frozen, your issues do sound very serious. But I'm unsure how they are related to this thread.

That had to be one of the best first posts I've ever read.

Didn't they write a book and make a movie about guys talking like frozen? Something about following ambulances? I'm surprised he didn't refer us directly to a lawyer...
Sheesh!

FWIW Danny Devito comes to mind....

Sounds like the guy in the Toyota Prius in California that was claiming to be jamming on the brakes and couldn't stop. He slinked away never to say another word once people started questioning his story.
