2011 Laredo v6

Hello -

I am about to purchase a 2011 Laredo with 20K miles. According the the Carfax report, back when it had 5K miles, there was a recommended maintenance performed of 'engine/powertrain computer/module reprogrammed'. The report doesn't mention anything like that being performed again and I am wondering if I should be concerned enough to consider not buying the car?

Thanks.

Re: 2011 Laredo v6

Probably not. I have an '11 Laredo and there was a TSB for a PCM update that took care of a few small things, the biggest being a change in the shift points on the tranny. I think it came out in August or so of 2011.

Re: 2011 Laredo v6

is there a warrenty ? A certain proportion of pre-13 V6s have required head replacement.

At a minimum I'd use my scan tool to determine the misfire count for all six cyl and look for a stored P030x code.

Isn't the head replacement covered under the powertrain warranty? In that case one could still scan for codes but if the problem does come up after purchase then it's just time for a dealer visit...

Re: 2011 Laredo v6

Could be but make sure it is still in place. At 20K miles there should have been a number of oil changes and services done and if not documented Chrysler could void the warranty.

Or you could purchase an extended service contract but if so make sure it is from Chrysler.
