Re: 2011 oil change capacity

I have seen same thing, however I found after you let them sit a LONG time, you will likely see that it was all but full at the 7 qts. For some reason it takes forever to drain all back down into the oil pan. I did same as you and put in 3/4 litre extra as it appeared low still, and then next morning I checked just for hll of it and it was overfull and I had to drain out extra I put in.

Re: 2011 oil change capacity

I've put 7.5 qts in each of three times I've changed the oil. Puts the level about half way up the cross-hatch area. Checked after sitting overnight.

Re: 2011 oil change capacity

Gave the dealer 7 quarts of Valvoline Synthetic, and it was near the low mark after about 1000 miles. Have since added a full quart to bring it up to the top mark. So, it seems to take a bit more than the 7 quarts...

Re: 2011 oil change capacity

First three oil changes I filled with 7 quarts and after setting overnight, I added another 1/2 quart to reach the full mark.

Re: 2011 oil change capacity

I have found that the JGC has to be perfectly level to show true fill level on the dipstick. If I'm on any incline at all then the oil level is greatly affected.

How great of incline? Would the incline of a garage floor (about 1.5 degrees) be enough to affect the level ?

I wouldn't think a garage would be an issue. I park mine in my driveway which has about a 5 deg angle and my dipstick has no oil on it at all. I have to move it to a level area to check my oil. I usually do it in the parking garage at work. There the level shows full. This is another engineering blunder by Jeep. My 98 Tahoe didn't have this problem in my driveway but the JGC does.

It's normal for the hemi to burn about a quart every few thousand miles.
