Re: 2011 Overland with headlight issue
As an act to try to help those, I will offer a bit of closure to this thread.
I purchased my D1S bulbs from an internet dealer. I was able to install them (finally) last night.
Here are the "must knows" about this job.
rubber gloves are a need.
A roll of paper towel is a must.
On the driver's side: pull the air-box, it will make access to the bulb a bit easier. You're going to need to pull the access panel through the wheel well, it will only add 2 seconds to the job anyhow.
There is a little "locking mechanism" that you turn 1/8 turn CCW and the bulb (or ... HID tube) will be able to be removed. This is applicable on both sides.
On the passenger's side: you're in for a bit of a game of tetris. Pull the plastic trim panel on the body side that the hood meets with when closed. Pull the access panel on the wheel well. Installation is pretty simple from there.
One last "tip" when working on the left side, cut the wheels to the right all the way - and vice-versa for the right.
In all, this was about $200 (replaced both bulbs) I have been the least excited about putting into my jeep.
