Re: 2011 Pentastar Tick noise :-( at 59k miles

3.5 vs 3.6 aluminum oversquare 4 valve DOHC 60 degree V6 with VVT i&e. Major difference is the Merc has direct injection and the Chrysler doesn't.

Those are technologies and specifications. Everyone uses those, but the block and heads (the actual engine) are not the same or even related.

I'm sorry if maybe I jumped to conclusions by what you said. It's getting kinda irritating these days with people giving Chrysler no credit for anything. Everything is either Daimler or Fiat...

And we won't get started on what Fiat has done for Chrysler... not much to be honest, except shove WCM down our throats. Oh and the Dart platform. But they got the 300/Charger/Challenger platform, and a V6 engine... I could go on... heh.

Re: 2011 Pentastar Tick noise :-( at 59k miles

Got my truck back yesterday. It was a rocker arm valve fail, they replace the rocker arm and lifters. That valve has a weird name I can't remember now but it basically says after it failed, the rocker arm and lifters followed. At least it was upper engine work.
