I don't know anything about what a newer model grand cherokee needs as far as maintenance goes so can someone please tell me if this sounds legitimate or is the dealer just trying to gouge her. The only information I could find online says that a transfer-case fluid inspection should be done at 30k miles not 20k miles and her driving usage would be classified as service interval "B" for severe duty due to dusty so-cal weather, stop and go traffic and frequent trips under 10 miles. Can someone please clarify this? Thank you in advance for you time!
I would first ask the dealer what their "4x4" service includes...
at 20k it shouldn't need anything but oil changed, air filter changed, fluids topped off.
I would only get the tires balanced and aligned if she is getting vibrations during normal driving at speed, uneven wear on the tires and the steering wheel isn't straight when the car is going straight.
