2012 Overland, 20k miles, new problem

Today i notice a large parabola shaped crack in the windshield right from the edge above the rear view mirror , curving down and over to the drivers side. Looks like a stress crack, no sign of being hit.
To the dealer tomorrow, hope they see it as a warranty item not something for my insurance to take care of.

Had exact same design crack last year... took about 6 rain storms for auto-wipers to re-learn.

Had the windshield replaced by insurance , safelite did the work. Looks good but find the wipers make one swipe now when the engine starts. Found same problem discussed here "New windscreen. Wiper rain sensor fault"

Did u mean wipers had to relearn after WS replaced or while the crack was present?

Re: 2012 Overland, 20k miles, new problem

Follow-up: After a while the Rain sensitive wipers seem to relearn the new WS and i don't get false swipes now; however this is five months later and there is a new crack in the WS. Seems there is a tiny nick in the lower left of the WS, maybe a rock, small hit it, now a fine crack radiating out towards the top right at about a 45 degree angle. That nick would not have been a problem on any older car i've had before, most of my previous cars had nicks in the glass, but it seems that on this current Jeep any nick will result in a radiating crack. inferior glass?

Re: 2012 Overland, 20k miles, new problem

BikerBill I had the same issue (also have a 2012 Overland with about 18k miles). A large crack, L shape, right on the top and middle of the windshield. Was also informed about the windshield warranty (12month or 12k miles) which sucks.

When you got you replacement from Safelite did you specify OEM glass? I would assume you had an OEM replacement only because your rain sensors are working. From what I have read, if you had an aftermarket glass the rain sensor will not work. Also I've feel my rain sensor wipers aren't sensitive enough when dealing with light rain / drizzle. Drove out only the 2nd time in rainy conditions. Did your wiper sensor re-learned?

Separately I now wonder if Mopar is now making inferior glass? It seems many people seem to have glass cracking not due to a rock chip.
