2012 Overland - Cold Weather Screeching Sound

So far so good... this Overland has been pain free! I take really good care of it with regular oil changes every 5,000 km and all scheduled fluids being maintained. One thing annoying me as well as my neighbours I have is a "Screeching" sound in cold weather <-5 Celsius that started a year after I got the Jeep. I've taken it to the dealership and I even gave them video's. The dealership seemed perplexed and the end result was, well, nothing. The screeching sound will go away after a 30 to 60 seconds depending how cold it gets. Don't know if I read somewhere that it was related to the power steering fluid being too thick to flow through.

I've lived with it for a couple of years now and outside of the horrific noise there doesn't appear anything wrong with the vehicle. Now that the cold weather upon us my neighbours won't be happy especially when I get out early in the morning. The good thing about having this very loud screeching sound is when you hit the remote start you know if its started.

Don't know if anyone has come across the same thing and if there was a fix. I appreciate your input and my neighbours eagerly await resolution

Re: 2012 Overland - Cold Weather Screeching Sound

Wow, I am so disappointed that Chrysler would not provide any Goodwill for an issue that occurred through the car's warranty and now that the issue has been identified and the car out of warranty they refuse to cover it. No issues I paid $150 for the repair which was less than yesterday's lunch. This is a question of money, it is the principal of the thing. The car was in it's warranty. For this I will stand strong and not buy another Chrysler product again and for the remaining three months I will not have my Jeep serviced any Chrysler dealership. I think my decision to buy my wife a 2016 BMW X5 M Sport over a Summit was the best decision I've ever made.

Goodbye!

You could raise the issue with Jeep corporate. If you have proof that you took it in while under warranty, and their TSB covered it after the fact, they may be willing to reimburse you.

I did all that this morning...called Chrysler with the SA who provided them the dates, time, KM's and the description of the issue all within the warranty! I even provided them with several videos when it first happened!! Like I said it's not about the $150 bucks (pulley was $59), I just forked out $90K on the Bimmer. This becomes clear to me that certain brands are committed to customer satisfaction, Chrysler is not. Amazing, all this because the couldn't fix a $59 problem a couple of years ago. They deserve this bashing.

I'm not disagreeing with you. We came from Acura and the service experience is night and day. But, Acura doesn't make an SUV that can tow 7k, either. Our service experience has been much better since we switched dealerships, though.
