Re: 2012 Overland shudder/vibration at cruising speeds and lurch on start.

Some of us WK owners have the same shudder. And I agree that no other vehicle I've owned had these characteristics.

However, I've grown to except it because my WK has miles on it and I have yet to have any issues with the drive train.

On the other hand, if I just paid ~$38,000 for a new vehicle and had these characteristics, I'd be a little concern too.

To me it seems like bad or just not so good programming.

When I use the word "shuddering" I mean the vehicle shudders or surges back and forth under acceleration, going up hills and deacclerating. I can drive this one ten mile stretch of road near my house that is wide open and it will do it the whole way so therefore I know it is not The "MDS" as jeep has told me. It literally feels like I'm riding on a horse if you can imagine sitting in the drivers seat and feel the car surge back and forth like a galloping horse. It is a very violent shudder at times. Lately my transmission has begun the shift rather roughly. I don't know if this is tied in with the shuddering or something else. I can't even stand to drive in the vehicle for more than an hour because the shuddering sensation vibrates up my right leg and cause a great deal of discomfort. My MPG has dropped of by at least two MPG as well. Something is not right with this vehicle.

If you are talking about the miss fire type feeling that is something that is a characteristic of the hemi. So from what you describe it seems the torque converter did not resolve the issue. It doesn't really surprise me that the problem is worse after the repair. I have not read one case on these forums where that took care of the problem and in almost every case seeems to have made it worse. In my opinion once you take the bolts out its never the same. I myself would not have let them do this repair. No one can say if yours is worse than other ones just by reading a forum but the hemis do have this feeling under certain conditions and if its something that is a characteristic no dealer is going to be able to do anything about. maybe at some point chrysler will come out with some update that will improve it.

Yeah. You mean surge.

Mine use to do it at very low RPMs on a certain gear. It will still do it if I want it to. Once again, tuning issue maybe??

Re: 2012 Overland shudder/vibration at cruising speeds and lurch on start.

What is your feeling on"where this surging/shuddering" is coming from? I am surprised by the description that u can feel it whie driving normaly and when accelerating...no check engine light? What has the techs been telling u? I can tell u we had a similar problem with a hemi engine, going by description: shuddering, vibration, discomfort, and pulling during acceleration... Same engine but in a dodge ram ... Ended up with damaged wireharness from ecu to circuits controlling the trothle body and right side injectors. Reflashed ecu and repaired harness and all went back to normal

Please keep updating on result of your surging/shuddering issue
