Sorry to here about your problem that is a lot of money. I would go back and give that dealer hell. 2k for a 7 year 3rd party warranty? that is crazy. I just paid $2100 for the lifetime Chrysler factory warranty. Something doesn't sound right with that. Hope all works out for you.

Then he found out the 7 year extended warranty was canceled the moment I purchased it when I bought the car. What? So I had to wait a week for it to be activated. I brought the car in yesterday. He called this morning to tell me that there's no air in the system and there must be a leak. In order to find if there is one they need to take out my entire interior! That's not covered under warranty and will probably run me close to $2k. In fact, none of the work being done is covered under the stupid 7 year extended warranty because it's not a Chrysler warranty but some aftermarket one! ARGH! Another thing the salesperson didn't tell me.

So, let's say they find out the hose had a leak and they replaced the part. It's possible THAT PART isn't covered by this crappy extended warranty. I'm about to flip. I spent over $2k for a useless piece of paper. I'm also livid at the part that failed that's causing the problem and that it will cost me out of pocket.

That's why I would never buy an aftermarket warranty. Go with the service contract from the manufacture or none at all. This is the first time I have heard of removing the interior to find a leak.

Excuse my ignorance, how long are the factory warranties in the USA? In Australia they are for 3 yrs or 100000km, which would mean you would be covered with the factory warranty.

The GC standard bumper to bumper warranty in the USA is 3 years or 36,000 miles, the powertrain is longer, he is at 39,000 so he is out of luck and his non Chrysler extended warranty says they wont cover

39k is so close to the warranty they will probably do it under warranty anyway. I had a vw that did a bearing and it was well under the 100k and almost 6mths over the 3 yrs and they covered the lot undee warranty. Write a letter to Chrysler and see how you go.

Re: 2012 WK2 reliability, it finally happened

Here's an update: My Jeep is still out for service. They ordered a compressor last week and it finally came in yesterday since it was back ordered. I had my car over the weekend and it was nice to have it back even if it was for just a short time. The compressor was installed and now they're waiting to see if the air stays in the lines and there's no leaks.

As for the warranty, apparently the dealer I purchased the Jeep from was a GM dealer 2 weeks before I purchased my Jeep and they weren't equipped to sell a Mopar extended warranty, which was what I wanted and thought I was buying. I ended up with a GM warranty where the deductible is $200 instead of Mopar's $100. That sucked. Since it was like a new GM car warranty though, it ended up covering my repair and for a 7 day rental, which was a relief. The problem is that if there is an air leak in the hose somewhere they'll still need to take the car interior out to get to the line. That part isn't covered.

If all the problem was the compressor (as was the case with another poster in this thread), then I'll be okay. I'm just not happy it took 3 weeks to get the vehicle repaired. Stay tuned for more updates.

Last update. It was indeed the compressor that was the problem. They did change a circuit board, but I think the main problem was the compressor. The car is working the way I expected it to work now. I'm just happy to be riding in my own car now.
