2013 GC 5.7 Hemi - Water Pump/Starter Issue
I noticed a growling noise coming from under the hood and smelled coolant. In addition, a noise was coming from the HVAC duct at the passenger vent. I took the GC to the dealer where they diagnosed a bad bearing in the water pump and a bad blower motor. They replaced the water pump and the blower motor. We drove less than 5 miles down the road before the GC started making noise and sputtering. I noticed that the temp gauge was on "H". The car then shut down and we could smell smoke from what was obviously an electrical fire. The dash lights appeared as if the battery were nearly dead. The GC would not turn over.
We had the car towed back to the dealer. They diagnosed the "new problem" as a faulty starter. Apparently, the starter never disengaged. Has anyone ever had such an issue? Could there be residual damage to the engine? Is there any chance that the starter did this because the water pump or blower motor was replaced incorrectly?
