Symptom/Vehicle Issue:
AC Comfort Settings do not operate or Operate at a different setting upon remote start

Discussion:
When remote starting a vehicle with ATC systems, the HVAC settings do not turn on at the desired customer settings prior to shutting off the vehicle. Engineering is investigating a software update for the HVAC module. Replacing the HVAC modules will not repair the vehicle at this time. Software updates scheduled for release by early 3rd quarter.

Second item on my list (short list by the way as everything else seems fine)
The rear gate will not consistently open on 2 clicks on the FOB... sometimes 2 sometimes it takes 4.

Gas milage has been averaging 20.2 to a high of 23.4. Haven't taken a lot of road trips, mostly to and from work (50 miles round trip).

3rd issue: Occasionally get the infamous: "Air suspension Cooling down, please wait" at low speeds. Going in for a full checkup on the system next week as this is not normal per the tech.

These are my three issues at this time. Guess Number 1 will have to wait for the software update. 2 will be looked at when they also check out number 3.

I have had it in sport mode a couple of times just for fun. Definitely a different feel.

End of rant :-)
My Summit also has the 2nd and 3rd problem on your list. And probably the first. Let us know if your dealer finds a fix for the last 2 problems as there are a few others that have the same problems.

Dealer told me that auto start/AC issue has been reported to Chrysler engineers, they do not expect a fix till third quarter this year. Will require computer flash update at dealer when available.

Thank you for the update. Third quarter always better than fifth quarter

Thats good to hear. We all still need to complain to our dealers about this issue so that it is not delayed any longer. It is one of the first issues I noticed on my Overland.

I don't think it's a big deal going off when you enter the car, since you are about to turn the engine on in 10 secs. That doesn't make the remote start useless...

What's the big deal about that? I think that they can simply say that's the way it works and nothing will change... since there isn't a real thing to fix.
No, you are missing the point. When you remote start the vehicle, the a/c turns off and only the fan runs. The whole point of remote start is to cool the vehicle before you get in, or warm it up in the winter. Otherwise it's just burning gas and the cabin is as hot as Hades in the summer and as cold as the arctic in the winter.

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

I had always thought from this thread that the a/c will actually work as it should but turned off when door opened. Didn't realize it was just the fan that turned on. Yea big issue especially here in arizona.

Not everybody has the same problem. Many report that it runs until you open the drivers door and then shuts down. Some say it starts up again when they press the start button, while others need to start the A/C again.

Now, yours shuts off all together. Mine on the other hand, set to auto, works as it should.

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

Yes, mines does start as it should but shuts off when the drivers door is opened. Maybe this is how it is designed to work as asinine as it may be. Firmware update can change this and this is what I am hoping for. The kick in the dick is, the choice between A/C or Heat coming on with remote start is base on the last shut down ambient temp. not the start up temp.
Shut it down at night at 38 degrees and next afternoon remote start at 75 degrees and the heat is on.

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

I've tried a few ways, with auto ac on, with manual on with window open and after 5 mins being off and after 20 mins being off and still it won't work. I called my cousin's husband who is an engineer at Diamler Chrysler and he is going to talk to the HVAC guys tomorrow about this. I sent him a link to this thread to have them read all of your (our) issues. Hopefully this will get us somewhere. I also called Kristen(? Previously mentioned) at the call center tonight and hopefully will hear back tomorrow.

In 1998 Chrysler merged with German automaker Daimler-Benz AG to form DaimlerChrysler; the merger proved contentious with investors and Chrysler was sold to Cerberus Capital Management and renamed Chrysler LLC in 2007. Like the other Big Three automobile manufacturers, Chrysler was hit hard by the automotive industry crisis of 20082010 and along with General Motors received billions of dollars in loans from the United States government in late 2008 and early 2009 to prevent both companies from shutting down. Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization on April 30, 2009. On June 10, 2009 Chrysler emerged from the bankruptcy proceedings with the United Auto Workers pension fund, Fiat, and the U.S. and Canadian governments as principal owners. Over the next few years Fiat gradually acquired the other parties' shares to take majority ownership of the company.
