Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

Ive only tried remote start a few times, but this is what I remember noticing and thinking it was weird.

The AC/Heat shuts down when I open the driver side door. When I walked out of work (sometime last week when it was cold) I tried remote starting the Jeep from just outside the office (was amazed that it worked from the distance).
I had my work bag with me so I open the passenger side door first to put the bag in the Jeep. I noticed the heat was on and roaring.
When I open the driver side door, the heat shut off.
When I started the Jeep, the heat was off, since I think thats how I left it in the morning.
Hasnt been cold or hot enough since to need to remote start to see if things come on. When it gets hot enough out, I'll try again and see what happens

So you're saying it's working but that we are just not noticing it because the second we open the driver door it shuts off?

That could be, but I'd still think the cabin would feel cooler/hotter if it had been running before hand. hmmmm

Dont waste your time and go to the dealer. You need to call Chrysler at (800) 992-1997 and tell them that you are having this issue, they told me I was the first person to call with this issue. They put me on hold, came back and told me this is how it is suppose to work. I told them that my 2013 did not have this issue, and they needed to escalate. Im waiting on a call back. More of us need to call them and put pressure on them.

Got it.... I'll call them... I am goin to dealer tomorrow ...
No way remote start is supposed to shut climate down....isn't that why people get it??? So the car will be warm or cool when you get in it??? How can they say its normal with a straight face.. It would be the only remote start on the market that is simply there to turn your car on

After they tell you it's normal ask for the keys to another new 14' and remote start it. See what happens, if the ac is on they will shut up quickly.

Maybe try it again and leave your window down so you can "peek inside" to see if it's running before you open the door ?

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

Same issue for me. I shut the car down with AC on auto. Normal start AC is on auto. Remote start, and AC is off. Same result regardless of the interior comfort on with remote start setting.

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

Just another feature that was removed. Here is the section from the 2014 Owners Manual:

Remote Start Comfort Systems — If Equipped
When remote start is activated, the heated steering
wheel, and driver heated seat features will automatically
turn on in cold weather. In warm weather, the driver
vented seat feature will automatically turn on when the
remote start is activated. These features will stay on
through the duration of remote start or until the ignition
switch is turned to the ON/RUN position.
The Remote Start Comfort System can be activated and
deactivated through the Uconnect® system. For more
information on Remote Start Comfort System operation
refer to “Uconnect®” in “Understanding Your Instrument
Panel”.

Notice that it doesn't mention Heat or A/C.

The 2011 manual is the same, but I remember that it would come on after you pressed the button on the dash. My 2014 doesn't return to the last setting.

A-C and/or Heat never was part of the Remote Start Comfort System on the WK2. The HVAC Climate Controls should return to the last setting upon remote start regardless of the Remote Start Comfort System.

I have the owners manual from my 2012 Overland along with the OM for the 2014 and they both say that exact same thing for "Remote Start Comfort Systems - If Equipped". Yet on my 2012, even if I didn't have the a/c on or on auto a/c at shutdown, as long as it was above 80 degrees, the a/c would be on with remote start AND it would stay on when I opened the drivers door.

Something is not programmed correctly on the 2014's. As others have said, what's the point of having remote start on a hot day if the A/C isn't going to be running and stay on when you open the drivers door?
