I never thought of this but I guess if my unit was turned off when I got out of the car, then it would completely turn off when I opened the door. Same if the a/c was off, but fan was on. Then my A/c would turn off when I opened the door. Is that correct. I typically turn at least my a/c off right before I get out of the the car. May have to change that habit.

I can comment specifically as I have never tried exactly that. But yes in theory, it would recall what you set with the current flash.

Personally, I hit auto, set the temperature and other than maybe adjusting the temperature slightly I might not touch the HVAC controls for a year or more. No need to turn off the A/C. The unit will override if it needs defrost anyway (cooler weather)

Ok, Thank you!
I guess Im used to the days of it not being good to start the car with the a/c on.

When I had my unit completely off or just the a/c off, the remote start turned the A/c on. It was nice. Guess that is why it never bothered me much LOL

My guess is the software needs to be reloaded from your dealer. I don't recall but if you are running 13.19.0 we can likely help you. If you are running a later version, the dealer will need to review. It could be a radio hardware and or HVAC module issue but that needs to be verified by a service tech using WiTech.
I can tell already that this is going to be one of those issues the dealership will "wash it's hands of" as they don't want to dedicate the time to solving it. I have already been blown off by them this week. They merely stated that they "filed a report to Chrysler and there should be an update for it eventually".

If it is simply a matter of reinstalling the software, I'd be happy to attempt it myself. In fact, I'd feel more assured of doing it myself than letting them try it. I do, in fact, have software version 13.19.0. If there is a download for that software available, I'd be delighted to give it a try.

OK, so I would say that there is a small chance that the HVAC flash didn't take properly. I have seen that happen some times but pretty rare. It also means there is about a 30% chance if it did not take the flash properly that when they reflash it, that might brick the HVAC module so just be prepared for that. It is that 30% chance that it didn't take that it might have been a bad module from day one. That is just a theory based on experience, I have yet to see a "bad" HVAC module in a 2014, there were a few in the 2011-2012s but more to do with the controls.

The radio (head unit with touch screen) is just a user interface when it comes to climate controls, seat memory and other in venue functions. It "talks" to the HVAC module and when you see a setting that won't stick or funny numbers coming back then often it is the module and nothing to do with the radio at all. I see this in Crestron (automation control company) systems often where you input a temp for HVAC in a home and then you come back later and it flipped back. In the background your radio is "asking" the HVAC system to set a temp and in control systems for the user to see a seemless interface the radio shows you what you set, then later updates the screen with the verified values. This is done because the HVAC module doesn't respond as fast as the touch screen and would look very laggy if displaying actual values.

So that is information on why, I have PMed you some further info. There is still a possibilty this is a radio problem but lets check some things first. We will see if wee can get down to a solution for you!

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

Finally made appt. for software updates on 10/3. Told them I wanted 3 updates for tranny issue , remote start, and udonnect updates. Turns out they did first 2 but not remote start said they didn't even no about the problem. Luckily I had a copy of the update and told them this was main reason I came in and of cause after insisting the found the update. Seems crazy the dealers act like they don't even know about these issues. After update I still didn't think it was working, after testing l is good. When you remote start the auto light dose not come on and display is dark, but system is now on at 72 deg. Once I open door sees. Comes on as dose auto light and now it changes to my preset temp. So as of now things seem to be working well.

Not exactly sure what you mean here, especially the last part in Red ?

With the First Frost just around the corner, I want to be able to set my Defrost on HOT and HIGH FAN before I turn off the engine at night. Then in the morning when I Remote Start from the house, the Defrost will come on HOT and HIGH FAN to melt the frost BEFORE I get outside and open the door.

Is this what the TSB will Fix ??

Thanks,
Tom

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

I haven't had the TSB done yet, but I believe if you have the climate control in manual mode it will remote start with the settings you left it with at last shutdown. Anyone with the update care to chime in here?

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

I took my Jeep to the dealership on Thursday and the technician said that he reprogrammed it and it worked after he finished.
