Anyway to update the HVAC ourselves like uConnect? Or are they the same patch?

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

Finally found the TSB going through all the pages on this thread, LOL.

It appears my Jeep is safe from the HVAC issue, but someone posted the TSB for the tranny flash. I believe mine is affected.

My JGC has a built date of 8-13. According to the TSB, anything built before Aug 12th. I found the "MDH" listing in the TSB, and on mine, it's 080818. Therefore, I believe it was built on 8/08/13, which means the TSB applies to my vehicle.... unless it was already done. I just bought it last week.

Honestly, the tranny seems fine to me. I do notice it does shift early. I'll be in 4th or 5th gear while going 25 mph.

Not exactly sure what you mean here, especially the last part in Red ?

With the First Frost just around the corner, I want to be able to set my Defrost on HOT and HIGH FAN before I turn off the engine at night. Then in the morning when I Remote Start from the house, the Defrost will come on HOT and HIGH FAN to melt the frost BEFORE I get outside and open the door.

Is this what the TSB will Fix ??

Thanks,
Tom
Sorry apparently didn't check before posting. Here's what it should of said.

Finally made appt. for software updates on 10/3. Told them I wanted 3 updates one for tranny issue , one for remote start issue, and one for uconnect updates. Turns out they did two of them but of cause not the remote start update. Said they didn't even no about the problem. Luckily I had a copy of the update and told them this was main reason I came in and of cause after insisting they now found the update. Seems crazy that the dealers act like they don't even know about these issues. After update I still didn't think it was working, after testing it all seems good. When you remote start the auto light dose not come on and display is dark (found out if car had been recently started display will turn on and the 72deg can be verified. If its been parked for a while display seems to stay dark until door is opened), but system is now on at 72 deg. Once I open door display comes on as dose auto light and now it changes to my preset temp. So as of now things seem to be working well.

Also checked what you asked about setting it on manual with defrost set on high. I shut car off with defrost on set to high. Locked myself in car and remote started. System came on as before 72deg and could feel air coming from vents and some from defrost vents ,but fan was set low. Once I unlocked and opened door system changed to my last temp also turned defrost back on with high fan just as I left it. Not sure how this will work out during winter. Guess we'll be finding out pretty soon.

Same here. Seems like they still haven't got it right. Maybe when the flash for the outside temp. module to read right comes out it may work as designed.

I had this a/c update done last week and after remote start it still does not go back to my original setting after I open the door. I usually have it set to auto. Is it possible the update didn't take? Or maybe they didn't do it? They said I need to drive it a few days. That it needs time to "learn".

If it is not returning to "Auto", sounds like they didn't do or properly complete the update.

The note in the prior post about the outdoor temp sensor affecting performance during moderate temperatures is likely very correct. However, the unit should still recall the user setting/auto on entry/start.

Thanks Will. I'm going to have them do it again.

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

I took my vehicle in 2 different times to have them apply the update for Remote Start, but it still doesn't operate properly. When I remote start the vehicle, the AC does come on, but as soon as I touch the door handle to get it, the A/C shuts down, then back up in Auto mode.

I told the service manager and he said there is nothing else they can do. They have 2 other Jeeps that are doing the same as mine, but all other Jeeps that they applied the update to, it has fixed.

They advised to just wait and see if another update comes out.

Does this sound accurate?

If auto comes on after you open the door than it sounds like it's working. With mine once I open the door the ac shuts off and does not come on.

Re: 2014 AC not working with Remote Start

I would need some clarification on the wording of this problem as well....? It sounds exactly how it is supposed to work that when you touch the handle it returns to the driver setting which sounds like auto in this case?

Not sure if I am missing something here ?!? Why would you care what happens to the A/C Unit once you touch the door handle ? By then you are next to the vehicle and ready to sit inside and you can set the A/C, Temps and Fan to what you want.

To me, the BIGGER concern is what happens in the 2-5 minutes AFTER you hit the Remote Start........BUT BEFORE you walk from the House, Work or Grocery Store to the Jeep and having the A/C or the Defrost come on to the last setting immediately when the Remote Start is used.

This way in the Hot Summers, the Jeep would already be Cool before you get outside to touch the door handle and in the Cold Winters the Hot Defrost would have melted off any frost, snow or ice before you walked outside to touch the door handle. If my frost was melted when I walked outside, I could care less what happened once I touched the door handle !!

After reading the TSB several times, I don't believe it will address this issue at all !!

From my post on the Prior Page, this is what a Remote Start should be used for:
