Re: 2014 build quality

I have a 2014 Limited V6 bought in July 2013. I've had no problems with my Jeep.

I've also gone over my Jeep with a fine tooth comb as people have mentioned issues with theirs and the only fit/finish issue that I have found is that the driver's door edge is about 1/8" out from being flush with the passenger door. It's hardly noticeable unless you look for it.

As for comments in the forum: Yes people have had fit/finish Q/C issues but the vast majority do not. According to Wikipedia, there were almost 175,000 Grand Cherokees sold last year (2013). I'm thinking that 1% or less are on this site.

Of course, buying a new car is somewhat big decision and one you have to be comfortable with. All I'm saying is take the posts on any board with a grain of salt, including this one...

- at 4k miles, I now have 3 separate rattles at speeds over 30 mph. Left rear view blinker, rear cargo entry and somewhere on left panel.

- do the doors grind when opening and closing for anyone else? Feels like steel on steel with no oil.

Again, maybe I'm just used to the exceptionally high standards of my chevy Tahoe (lol), but these seem like issues a 50k ride shouldn't have.
Totally agree, had high hopes in the 8 speed but it's disappointing, the shifts are unacceptable.
I've got the Limited but it's still a Laredo as far as the quality is concerned and the Laredo is the one I should have bought I'm now thinking...
It's in the details. Although the large screen Nav looks great when you're trying to operate it while rolling? Forget it. That alone make me want something like that 2016? Tennessee build VW CrossBlue.
The GC offers a lot of weight for the money (Laredo) but little fun, at least with the 6cly, definitely last GC for me, I had a 2012 before...

+1.

really disappointed not only in the tranny but how utterly impossible it is to get the dealership to acknowledge that it sucks.

If I hear "nope. that's how it's supposed to be" one more time...

Re: 2014 build quality

Got the replacement today. Obviously way too early to tell, but man alive is the hemi awesome to drive. Powerful, smooth shifting.

Re: 2014 build quality

Curious if its just me, when I start and the street goes down a bit, bang, 2nd. gear hits, this is with the engine basically at idle, just going down a small hill. Just 2nd. behaves like that and not 3rd from what I can tell.
I think the transmission behaves differently when the engine/tranny is under load...anybody?

Re: 2014 build quality

Just returned my 2011 JGC and grabbed a 2014 Altitude JGC. For what it's worth, not happy with several things. Have a banging happening in the tranny as soon as I start the car (not even shifting the car into gear). Have noises coming from the A/C during cycling and when the car is in ECO have noticed sloppy shifting across the board. Didn't expect to get a build quality like my older Lexus but I PERSONALLY feel that my 2011 had better QC all around. Just my initial impression on a vehicle with only 1,500 miles on her.

Re: 2014 build quality

My only complaint so far was a right rear door that wasn't properly aligned. The dealers body man explained the doors and gaps and wind noise and such to me, and at that time I point at the misaligned door and said... "that's great and all, but it's not supposed to look like this because it doesn't look like this on THAT new GC parked over there..."... yep, they fixed it.

Other than that, I've had no issues in the first 1200 miles.
