Reading your post caused be to dig a little. I thought that the capless filler would fall under the EPA required emissions warranty, but apparently it does not qualify as a major emissions component so there is not a requirement to cover it out way out to 80k miles.

Digging a little more, looks like Ford has already run into some issues.

The Sunoco pumps do NOT have this spring thing on the nozzles. I like the idea of a capless filler but this is a little disappointing. Still absolutely freaking love this GC Overland though.
This is definitely a Shell nozzle issue. I had a problem both times I have gone to a Shell station. My check engine light then turns on when I used about half a tank from the Shell station. The light goes off if I fill up at a station that I don't have the problem. Let me know if anyone knows of a work around. This is a major issue for me.

For a work around ... go to the station you don't have a problem with, particularly if this is a major issue for you.

there is a white plastic thing in the spare tire compartment that is made to unlock the fuel cap, that's something my dealer explained at delivery

There is no cap. It's just a funnel in case you want to pour additives into the gas tank.

I know there is not cap! I was talking about the opener located in the spare tire compartment

Here

You can use that white tool to unlock the fuel capless entry when it gets locked

It's just a funnel. I opens the passage exactly the same as a fule pump nozzle, with no specials.

"CAP-LESS FUEL FILL FUNNEL
The funnel for the Cap-Less Fuel System is located on top of the spare tire. If your
vehicle is out of fuel and an auxiliary fuel can is needed, insert the funnel into the
filler neck and proceed to fill the vehicle."

Re: 2014 Capless Fuel Filler Cap

I'm lost too. What manual did you get that from. What year, and what printing? My vehicle has, and my OM shows a white funnel in that spot.

Could that be a tool to open the fuel door if the power opener fails?

2014! My sales guy explained that the capless fuel entry might get locked at times and to unlock it I have to use that white funnel tool I've showed you before, thought you were asking about that. For the fuel door I have not idea never happened to me before.
