Re: 2014 Capless Fuel Filler Cap

I am going to order it and try it. Under ROCKAUTO applications it list a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee as the use. Hopeful pic is correct.

Let me know how it turns out and how difficult it is to swap from the old fill tube to that one. I'm thinking the cap on ebay might be an easier fix. There is a similar cap that the Dodge guys like on Cumminsfourm, I guess capless fillers are on everything now.

Re: 2014 Capless Fuel Filler Cap

Why go through all the hassle and expense of trying to change out fuel fill system components or various caps when you probably have the solution right in your own home? All it takes is the plastic cap off a large spray can...

I've been using one on my GC for the better part of a year now. It works great.

No actually I was correct on both counts.

Dust entry is not anymore of problem in any condition vs a traditional cap. FACT

Waytoolcrazy created an account and their first post was to their own ebay listing. FACT

So take your troll roll somewhere else. Thanks

Yes, I agree that this is an odd posting pattern for a new user. For the first post they made, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially since they claimed they would take down the link and it was a misunderstanding. Instead of taking down the link, now we have multiple copies such eBay links from the same poster in different threads.

If these are links to their own auctions then that does seem abusive due to lack of disclosure. FWIW: I am disinclined to purchase anything from that eBay seller now due to what I perceive as astroturf shilling on this forum.

So, if this is a sales tactic then it's counterproductive, at least from my standpoint.

I'm going to go ahead and call [citation needed] on that, given we have video of sprayed water making it past the fuel door and onto the capless filler, as well as many testimonials of dust accumulation.

Roadkill, I posted this in the other thread too.
I am new to this forum and I like to get the opinion of other people before I buy something that looks like someones idea of a fix.

I'm sorry that was the first thing I posted and I won't put any more links. I just like Jeeps and how helpful people that are into them are.

There's a small pinhole in the top of most spray cans.

If we are looking at home grown solutions, the guys from Oz pretty much beat the topic into the ground a few months back.

If the new poster that posted an eBay link is not the owner or affiliated with the eBay account in question, that would be nice, but not necessary, to know.

Dunno how many aftermarket solutions would pass a smog check.

Re: 2014 Capless Fuel Filler Cap

To me that is not a solution to the problem. If you not going to fix it correctly why bother at all. I have never seen an oem use a plastic top off a paint can. Have you?

Yes, and that small pinhole should alleviate any issues with the system's ability to vent, which some people were wondering about. The hole is small enough where water or dust entry shouldn't be a concern. I've not seen this as an issue on mine since I started using it.

Yes, and I suggested this solution over there several months back when that thread was started. But as you know, not everyone spends the time drilling back through thousands of posts.

I never commented on it. It's not an issue to me one way or another.

There's no problem needing to be fixed anywhere but in your head..
