Re: 2014 climate control woes

My 2014 Limited also has the problem where climate control doesn't turn on with remote start until I open the driver's side door. I have been successful with the workaround people mentioned in this thread though... if I open the driver door before turning the car off, climate control will run with a remote start.

Someone mentioned a flash that would fix this problem, but my dealer doesn't know of a fix. Have others had success in getting a software flash to correct this problem?

Re: 2014 climate control woes

TSB 24-002-13 released on September 5th, 2013 contains the information necessary
to correct the problem with the fan turning off when you open the driver's door after a remote start.

The new HVAC flash works well

Print this and take it to your dealer this is new HVAC software, it fixes a number of issues not just hot cabin.

There is also this one but the one above likely incorporates it into the current version or at least that is what my dealer said.

"NOTE: During Remote Start mode operation, the HVAC system will default to a
preselected value of 72°F (22°C) regardless of customer selection or ambient
temperature. When the driver’s door is opened, the system will immediately
revert back to the previously selected setting. This is a normal operating
characteristic."

This is a really supid system. When it's 115 out I don't want it on 72.

What do you want it set to when it's 115 out?

Max AC, its the only button I need. I dont think the blower is on full tilt until I open the door. I'm moving off thr sun in 3 weeks anyway to denver so 72 is perfect.

Thanks for the links! I have a Mar 2014 build so I should technically already have the Sept 2013 update that corrected the driver's door issue. Hopefully the May 2014 update will fix the problem.

Re: 2014 climate control woes

Last informative post on this topic said that there will be a software fix sometime in the third quarter.

Did that happen?

I have a March 2013 build, bought in April 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.

Since day one, I've had the same problem in:

1. Most times, when I start the Jeep, using the start button, the HVAC is off and set at 72 degrees, no mater what it was set at when I stopped the vehicle.

2. If I restart the vehicle within a few minutes, like I do when I'm at a gas station, the HVAC remains at the setting it was when I turned off the engine.

I've had the vehicle in the shop three times already. And I'm about ready to bring it in again. I've been bringing it in, in conjunction with recall notices, so these service calls are not new inconveniences.

Thanks
(trying not to get my hopes up <G>)

Tom
