On monday i had the shifter recall done along with a scheduled service. The morning after and a pretty cool morning doing the school drop off the temperature gauge just reached about half way to the normal temperature the electric radiator fan starts up and reaches full speed which is very loud. Rung the service manager and he said he had 4 cases the same as mine yesterday afternoon.
The recall as changed a setting that causes the fan to come on early and even if its not hot. The fan stays on for 10min and only happens first thing in the morning for me anyway. So anyone in Australia with this problem or going to get there Diesel Shifter recal done there will be another update required hopefully in the near future.
Cheers
they posted this too
"Ok, so I have contacted my Jeep dealership and they told me that the Park fix also touches a software component that regulates the cooling fan. They have asked me to take my car back to the dealership so they can disconnect the battery and connect it again. This should force a reboot which will make the car accept all the new settings."
Did anyone in Australia receive a letter from FCA(AU) about the recall being applicable to their VIN? Apart from the ACCC web page basic info, I have seen nothing documented from FCA(AU). I contacted them by email and I got CRICKETS...
While our network of owners here understand the issue, I wonder how many aussie owners are none the wiser.....
The most info I have found outside of JG, is from the NHTSA site that I have downloaded and put on file..
I also received a letter obviously. Also think the srt 1 is out as well. Part of the recall info they provided for the work done and hrs taken to do job had 1 srt8 line in it.
Interesting...
I'll make a call to FCA(AU) tomorrow and see what STORY I get.
If someone could de-idenfify their letter and post the main contents here so we can read it, that would be appreciated!!!
"FCA Australia will notify vehicle owners who can take their vehicle to a Jeep dealership whereby the vehicle will have work conducted to safe guard against the possibility that the vehicle is not properly put into the “PARK” position."
I like the fact that the ACCC website states FCA Australia Pty Ltd "WILL" notify vehicle owners. Not may, could, should or if they have the time.
I'm sure from a regulations point of view, FCA (AU) need to ensure owners are notified. The Regulator, in this case the Department of Infrastructure & Regional Development, needs to assure FCA (AU) is abiding by the regulations, in this case notifying owners..
I'd be interested to know what regulation is not being followed with due diligence by FCA (AU).
