2014 GC Limited no electrical power. Dead battery?

My 2014 GC was working fine yesterday. Tonight I look out my bedroom window and notice the red alarm light wasn't flashing. Odd. So I grab the FOB and try to lock the vehicle, nothing happens. I try to unlock it. Nothing happens. Weird.

So I head outside to check my GC. Seems like the battery is dead. Nothing electrical works. No lights, doesn't start, electric seats don't work, etc. I'm puzzled.

What the heck could have caused this? No prior issues in the 2 years I've had the vehicle.

Re: 2014 GC Limited no electrical power. Dead battery?

So I used a booster pack to get her up and running. Went to the dealer. They performed a quick battery and alternator test. All looks fine except the battery needs charging of course. Booked an appointment for Friday morning (earliest they could get me in) to run further tests.

Just replaced my battery at 5 years and 77000 Klm , was beginning to crank the engine a little slower than normal.

There was a recall and TSB related to this condition on the 14's...

The recall was for a bad ground strap connection.

The TSB was for a parasitic power drain due to (I believe) the U-Connect system somehow not powering down at engine shutoff.

Check the TSB's/recalls over on wk2jeeps.com

Hello

I checked all the TSBs and recalls on wk2jeeps.com. My 14 is up to date with all relevant TSBs (except for the shifter recall).

I saw the power drain TSB you mention, but it's for 2015s, not 14s.

The dealer couldn't find anything wrong on Friday. They believe I left something on. Now that I think of it I may have put the vehicle in ACC mode and left it like that. Not sure to be honest. Anyway, it's been fine since the battery was recharged. I'll monitor it and hopefully it was my fault and not the Jeep acting weird.

Hmm I'd keep an eye on that, the jeep is smart and shuts things down if they are left on. Several times I have left dome lights on or doors open and the jeep shuts those down after a period of time to prevent dead battery. Same with leaving it in ACC or run without engine on. So you may have something else going on there.

Shouldn't be a battery yet especially with the AGM but anything is possible. I typically Change a battery at 5 years thinking I am on borrowed time beyond that. With the AGM I may bump that to 6.

I'm most definitely keeping a close eye on it. I check each time I lock my vehicle to ensure the gadgets and screens turn off. I bought a booster pack that I'm carrying it out with me. So far so good *knocks on wood.

Re: 2014 GC Limited no electrical power. Dead battery?

I spoke too soon. Battery down to 7V. Vehicle won't start. I boosted it using a booster pack and it started. However, now have a check engine light and a message saying "service shifter". DAMN IT!

I'm calling Jeep 24/7 road side assistance...

Re: 2014 GC Limited no electrical power. Dead battery?

Faulty BCM was the root of the issue. They changed the BCM and flashed the new one with the latest software. Also had the 8-speed transmission recall done.

My baby is all fixed

I have a 2015 Challenger Scat Pack having the same dead battery issue. Do you have any more info on your BCM issue? Is there a tsb or anything I can show my dealer?

Have you had any other issues since? They are now changing my second BCM.
