2014 GC Overland HID headlight system

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. (Not sure why it says I have a 2014 CJ)

A while back, while changing HID bulbs, my passenger side headlight stopped working. Just the light itself. The LED accent and signal lights are good. I've tried 4 new bulbs. Nothing.

Would that most likely be a shot ballast?? I'd hope a 2014 wouldn't have a bad ballast but perhaps I did something while wrestling the bulbs in and out. At first I didn't understand the clip that held the bulb in so I was having a hard time and actually ruined a couple of bulbs.

Ever since then, not a flicker or anything. I literally never use my headlights. I use the accent lighting and led fogs and that's perfect. However, my inspection is up this Friday. And it of course will NOT pass with just one light working. I have no idea what to do or what it could be. The fuse is fine.

And if it is the ballast, my next question is, which one of the following is the hid ballast? Had both. One is for the LED set up and one is for the hids. Both, on eBay, say they are hid ballasts. None of the sellers can tell me the difference and I'd love to limit my tearing of the front end off to a minimum. Any kind of info is desperately needed. Thank you!!

Patience is a virtue. It's likely you have a bad ballast as a result of a freak failure, jeep, or contamination. You could try the dealer for warranty but You'll need to be very nice as its not something they like to say yes to.

Re: 2014 GC Overland HID headlight system

If it started during a headlight bulb change, I would say you didn't get the bulb in the housing right. I've changed bulbs in these lights a few times, always with them removed from the vehicle.

I suggest you do the same, take off the bumper and pull the lights, ensure they are in right, then if it still persists, change the bulbs from drivers to passenger side, and still if not you can change ballasts from one light to the other as well.

Good luck
