2014 GC Stalled on freeway due to Fuse

My 2014 Grand Cherokee has been a pretty good vehicle up until this week. While driving on the freeway the engine suddenly cut out and would not restart. Had to have it towed to the dealer. They found that Fuse F70 had burned out. They told me it was the fuel pump fuse, but i haven't verified that yet. They had no theories on why this would happen. Seems strange that this would happen. Anyone else have this experience?

Fuse F70 is for the fuel pump motor per WK2 Jeeps. I don't own a 14' so I don't know if this is a common issue. Sorry for your troubles & hope they get you back on the road soon.

Got a picture of the fuse and it's location? Maybe that's a good fuse to keep in the vehicle as a spare.

Why did the fuse blow? Just replacing the fuse got your GC running but may have not solved the problem? Is your fuel pump defective????

Yes, I did get a spare and noted the location (don't want to be towed again!)

The dealer did not know why it failed. If it fails again I will definitely make sure they check out the fuel pump.

I didn't see any other reports of this on JeepGarage so hopefully it was a one time anomaly!

F70 is the location. According to the owner's manual (great reading) it is in the power distribution center, under the hood. Instead of having someone take a picture, you can lift the hood and see one in person.

Re: 2014 GC Stalled on freeway due to Fuse

Thanks for the heads up on this. There has been a lot of talk about reseating all the fuses. A loose fuse could cause it to blow, but unlikely.

If that happened to me. I think I'd measure the current the pump is pulling, to see how close it's running to the fuse rating.

It is possible to have a faulty fuse too.
