These guys are obviously busy dealing with problems every day, but a car that has 300 miles on it just shutting off, being "fixed" then doing it again, along with several other problems... seems like more than a shaky window out of alignment to me.

They should be jumping on this with all their weight to make it right. I know its a big company, but if one was to go outside this forum and start a cyber assassination on facebook or start a website that details the entire thing.. they could possibly lose 10-100 potential customers who aren't lovers of jeeps as most of us are. Even my mother reads the internet and researches cars she is thinking of buy.... not that I am suggesting anyone do that, but its been done.
Thanks, Titan. This is it exactly. Someone telling me to make lemonade out of my lemons or to just go to another brand if we want isn't helpful and makes light of the real headaches we have experience here. I expect a minor issue or two with a new vehicle at most. Not for it to die a couple times while driving, and then to have issues with the 4wd system. I'm glad some people can make roses out of fertilizer, but for those of us dealing with these issues, it is not helpful.

What would be helpful is Chrysler stepping in and taking care of us. This is not the new car experienced they promised us.

I know what your going through. When I got my first wk2 which was a 2011 model that I ordered I had a noise in the drivetrain they could not find. They replaced the rear brakes and then the whole rear axle and then the driveshafts and then the wheel bearings. After all this which was over a month or two they had an engineer come out and they replaced the transfer case which took care of the noise. They were about to give me a buyback when they finally found the problem. I knew I was not keeping it after all that work had been done on it so I traded it in on a new Overland about 2 weeks later. I owned that first one a total of 5 months. I can tell you from experience that in my opinion the customer service people you talk to on the phone have almost no power, they are just there to listen and take down the information and tell you how sorry they are and that about it. There is a district Manager for different areas of the country and that person deals directly with the service manager at the dealership this is the person with the power to make a decision for you. For a buyback or replacement they normally follow the lemon law in your state. So is the only problem at this point the 4wd service light? if so maybe that module got toasted also? Maybe they should just try replacing that. If they can get it fixed they will probably not do a buyback but I would push to have them give you a free service contract.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Yes, that (supposedly) is the only issue that I know of -- actually, the codes indicate some engine control issue as well, but it is going on three days now and they haven't been able to figure it out. I don't know what other codes they were able to pull. They might have gotten more than my OBD reader could.

Thanks for pointing out the hierarchy. That is very helpful. Here I thought if you get a call from Chrysler in Michigan, something is going to happen! I guess not! So my guess is that the district manager and my dealership are trying to sort this out. I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to keep that 2011 after it had all that work done on it. Who knows what was affected.

With the ground issue that was going on for the first 300 miles, who knows what got fried. Chrysler took care of my first month's lease payment after it died in the road the first time and has done nothing since (for the second "death" and now it being in the shop yet again). That's fine, but I'm not spending $450 a month to be in a Grand Caravan that sounds like it's falling apart.

It's a lease, and I purchased the warranty to cover me the extra three months and 3000 miles.

As soon as I get it back, I have to forward the work order to the lawyers. They think I have a pretty strong case. The more days that go by with no phone calls from the dealer, I'd think that only improves.

I also don't like the idea of the Jeep sitting at the dealer this long. They already put 100 miles on it under who knows what driving conditions. I wonder what they're doing to it now? Very glad it's a lease in case I somehow end up with it long term.

Have you let the lessor know what is going on ? I suspect they are the "owner of record".

That is an excellent suggestion, but I wonder if they'd care?

Just an update. Dealer has had my car three full days now. I tried to reach the service desk just after 5 but no one was picking up. Tomorrow is the fourth day and after no word from them since I called Tuesday (when they said they hadn't found anything substantial and don't call us we will call you) I will be expecting some kind of explanation why they have needed my car for four days. My wife has been in a Dodge Grand Caravan for four days. I'm grateful they offer loaners at all, but no person should suffer such a fate.

Meanwhile, I just realized that my stepson, who leased a KIA three months ago, has had zero issues with it so far and is having the new car experience we should all have - just enjoying the excitement of having a reliable car with that new car smell and the pleasure of driving it every day.
