Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Hey man I totally know where you are coming from here. My 04 WJ was a POS that in the 39 months I had it for a lease I was in for issues 38 times (about 15 times the vehicle was there for more than 3 days) and a 07 WK that in the 36 months I had it, it was in for service about 20 times. For me it was just the dealer Manhattan Jeep had I still believe to this day, a bunch of Zoo Animals from the Bronx Zoo, working on cars there. I still will never forget the one issue with the WJ I had, the car was not starting after sitting overnight, so I had it brought in and they replaced the battery and starter and said dont worry Sir, its all fixed we tested it out, I take it home, go to the garage the next morning and click click click no start. They had to call Detroit to get it fixed. LOL

So I found out about Westbury at the tail end of my 07WK, and brought it in there once and AJ at the hemishop fixed everything for me the first time and I was problem free with the rest of that lease. I went there to buy my SRT back in 09. Its all about who works on the car, and if you get buffoons working on it, you are going to be back. Then chrysler taking this attitude with you doesnt help the situation. Having a bad dealer experience is one thing but having corp treat you like that, its not cool.

GL with the rest of the situation and I hope it gets straighten out for you.

At least every day in the shop is one more day out of service towards that 30 days you need for it to be lemoned. That's where this is headed eventually.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

I shouldn't laugh but... this is kind of a scary thought... wait until the stop and go feature is integrated into the 15's... Since AMC2002 is on edge but is still keeping his cool even with the way ChryFi is treating his case.. We need to keep him a Jeep believer.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Thanks Mr. Palmer and scooter - and torifile, that's what I'm thinking now - counting down the days to official lemon status by NY law.

Since I'm subscribed to a few threads here now, it's really scaring me how many issues the 2014's have. Yeah, I know two of you here are going to chime in and say "only people with issues pop in here to complain," but I just don't ever recall being in a forum where there seem to be so many electronic issues with one model of car.

With the absolute radio silence from Chrysler now, and with the issue that Lola posted on the Summit issues she's having (you rely on NAV to get you somewhere -- and then it stops responding or tells you the air suspension system is cooling)... Well, today is the first day I'm leaning toward just hoping I get a full refund for the money I put down on this lease and I'm taking my money to another brand.

I DO NOT want to do this, but I think this is a case of a new electronic system that just wasn't fully vetted. I LOVE this product, but I just cannot put my family in a vehicle I can't trust. I'm looking at a new job that might take me away from home a couple weeks out of the year and if I was away when my wife was having issues like this with her Jeep, I know I'd be freaking out.

Maybe I worry too much, but I'm concerned about the new gear selector (which popped my Jeep out of gear a twice while driving due to the ground issue). I'm concerned about the 4WD system going haywire while driving in snow or sand. I'm concerned about the NAV system not working. I'm concerned about safety issues WHILE DRIVING.

I might be willing to live with all this and just know eventually these issues will be fixed, but the complete silence from Chrysler on my issues now speaks volumes as to how this company views its customers. Sure, I might have just gotten the wrong "district manager" to deal with, but THIS PERSON is MY REP to Chrysler.

Not sure what vehicles I will be looking at now. Not sure what's even in this class. I don't want to leave Jeep -- when I am brand loyal, all my friends & family know it. Unfortunately, many of them have now heard about my experiences with Chrysler/Jeep and would never consider buying one based on how the company is handling this.

It's just a shame, really. I just want Chrysler/Jeep to do the right thing and stand behind the product. They are not doing this now. Not in the slightest.

I hear the new Explorer Sport is pretty wicked. And we tested that hybrid turbo Taureg before we bought our 14 GC Limited; it's small, but it's whiplash fast and handles like a sports car.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

What I am seeing is a market for an automotive surge protection system. Would be interesting to see if there is any correlation between things like the higher capacity alternators and the electronic failure rates in '14s. Or possibly a changed ground location. Or a smaller guage wire.

Back in the day I remember race cars having the Delcotronic ignition would mount two control units on the dash with an A-B switch. When electronics gets complex, redundancy is good.

Do think a lot of electronics-related failures and strange actions are being reported on '14s. Al least heads are not self-destructing.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

It's amazing that my Jeep is still running so well. I took it back today for my original problem of all warning lights coming on and losing speedometer an QuadraLift. Everything was back to normal by the time I got there this morning, including the check engine light out.

They hooked it up and it spit out two pages of codes. They relayed this info to Chrysler/Jeep. An hour and a half later they got a call saying the only thing that could spit that many codes is a bad PCM.

A new one is on it's way, and the Jeep ran perfectly on the way home.

I think you're onto something... So many of these GC issues seem like they're related to the new electronics. In fact, I bet a majority of them are. Something seems like it's killing these systems -- NAV, 4WD, ABS, etc...

Could it all really be as simple as a loose ground I wonder on a large batch of them?

Think my wife and I will probably look at a Q5 this weekend and see if it would be large enough for our needs. Ugh. This sucks.

In your case I think they should order an ICBM. Then you can move on.
