Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

So of course, everyone has their opinions on what I'm doing, and this was one of the latest, from another list I'm on:

Quote:
You may well be stranded a third time OR it may be something more critical.. like the ABS computer, or the trans shift computer, or the mostly-burned-by-now CPS where your wife will accelerate rapidly and make the news for her 911 call at 100 plus MPH/ big engine fire not allowing auto forensics to figure out what was wrong so now YOUR insurance pays for it..

Maybe I'm a little negative on this..
OK, that's an extreme, but it got me freaking paranoid of course -- now, there's no indication anything like this could ever happen, but it got me thinking.

Electronic gearshift means you won't get the thing in neutral if it doesn't want to go. Push button start means you can't turn the thing off if it doesn't want to turn off.

So my question is -- let's say worst case scenario something happens and the Jeep starts acting funny. Is there a way to totally bypass everything and just shut it off? In the old days, I figured if anything ever happened to my car, I just turn the key to OFF.

You can't do that anymore. So what do you do?

That's what I'm hoping. The GC is so easy to love, I don't think it will be difficult to get over this, assuming this is the last of it. Hope everything works out for you as well...

That's a really good question.....don't they use this 8-speed in a few different cars now?

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

So between the 2nd and 3rd periods of the Bruins/Leafs game, I decided to take the GC out for a nighttime spin just to try to be OK with where we are in the whole series of events. For some reason, it is shifting like butter now. You can't even feel the shifts between gears, up or down. I thought for a second this couldn't be the same vehicle. Turned on the heated seats & wheel, drove up and down some local roads and just thought what an amazing vehicle.

I got back to the house with a huge smile on my face, and spoke to my wife about how different the shifting was and that the vehicle seemed fine. She said not only that, but the touchscreen seemed a lot more responsive. She said she used to have to really push on the icons, sometimes a couple times, and now everything was very snappy. She said there's no way this is a different vehicle, right? I had to laugh.

Then shortly after, the Bruins make NHL history by overcoming a three goal deficit entering the 3rd period in a game 7... I'm taking it as a good omen.

My wife said the dealership promised they had gone through this vehicle front to back and they had been back and forth with corporate the whole time. Reportedly, we're going to get "a stack of paperwork" mailed to us about what happened.

I really hope this is the end of the bad stuff. I have a good feeling, and I'm so glad to have my Jeep back... The ONLY thing that makes it somewhat easy to not look back is just what a marvelous vehicle this is. It's so perfect for us, and we both love it.

My mother-in-law got us two crystal angels to put in it, and my wife did that this afternoon. Every bit helps. I will keep updating this thread occasionally as the miles add up, hopefully uneventfully...

I very glad to hear you got your Jeep fixed finally! Yesterday was a good day, wasn't it!

Go Bruins!

So the dealer had the Jeep for a week (and after putting almost 200 miles on it didn't fill the tank - funny how I had to do that for their loaner though) and assured my wife that it was fixed. Corporate had been involved every step, etc.

This time we couldn't even get to the next day without an issue. Yep. Service 4wd System. Um, didn't you guys just "service" that? I feel like I've been serviced so much by Chrysler that my a$$ hurts.

AMC,

You know we were all pulling for you. But, maybe it really is time to throw in the towel.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Oh No. This is disheartening. And Chrysler's reputation (along with domestics manufacturers) for customer service is disturbing. I can only imagine the pain this is causing you and your family. I know this is 1 in a million probabilities, but I'm starting to re-consider if I really want to purchase this truck. I have a toddler and I my wife will also drive this truck. I do not want to buy a truck that I have to cross my fingers every time I have to start it.

AMC - like Bill said, I would throw in the towel and move on. It is not worth the hassle after this much time. I would move on and get a dependable vehicle for your family.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Thanks everyone -- lawyer is filing papers as I speak. I faxed my rep at Chrysler this morning and told him that I'd love to resolve this without the law, that I wanted to see if Jeep could make this right for me. I said I would wait until noon to file the paperwork. Please call me.

Nothing.

My wife actually called me just now laughing. She and I just don't understand how we can still love this vehicle this much after what it has put us through. It's a testament to the Jeep brand. We are both totally hypnotized by it. Or something... There is literally no other vehicle on the road that we want. After what Chrysler has put us through with this -- not even responding to me anymore -- I should be taking my dollars elsewhere and saying that I will never buy another Chrysler vehicle as long as I live. Since the first incident when they agreed to refund the tow and pay my first lease payment, which I was fine with (and assumed whatever was wrong would be fixed), their customer service has been nothing short of piss poor. Horrible. Zero. Negative numbers.

Jeep is not a premium brand. Not even close. A premium brand, I would be getting phone calls every day telling me what's going on. After two or three issues, a new car would be appropriate - "we will make this right, because that's what we're made of -- we will show you that you made the right decision buying our brand. Bad stuff happens, lemons happen, but we will prove ourselves to you."

Instead, I get silence. I get "I'd put my wife in this car." I get an empty tank after the dealer drove it 150 miles and didn't refill the tank, while I had to refill their loaner. I get "these are rolling machines, things go wrong..." I get from Russell Ramone, the local rep, "you've compensated them enough -- no way in hell they're getting a new vehicle."

This is how Chrysler/Jeep treats its most loyal customers. I'm a $#&*(%% fool for wanting another. I know I am. But I'm going to roll the dice again.

And if I have ANY of these issues with my new GC, god help every person that has been saying, "the vast majority of owners have no issues with their Grand Cherokees," and "people only come here to complain -- everyone else is out enjoying driving their Jeeps," and "look at the surveys here -- 90% say no problems," because I am going to come over the interwebs, through their computer monitors or tablets or whatever the hell they're using, and I'm going to punch them in the mouth.

I am raw from this. It's total bullshit that Chrysler would make me resort to the law to take care of this. Total BS.

But here we are.

So I'll take a chance with another Jeep, another dealer.

What a chump I am.
