Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

I feel for you. I wonder how many other ready-to-buy customers are scared of pulling the trigger because of you, and others in your situation. Out of everything else out there, this is the vehicle I really want. But, I don't think I want it bad enough to go through these hassles and disappointments. I'll wait and see what happens. If something comes along in the meantime, then, I guess its Jeep's loss for not getting their act together. If there's more like me, then, I guess multiple Jeep losses. And, since people like us tend to influence other buyers, not acting/reacting could end up costing Jeep many, many sales.

(All one has to do is look at the 6-8 mix in the Mustang. So many manual trans/V8 problems that Ford's GT manual has almost been discontinued by the market. Buyers are staying away in droves, causing Ford to cut back production of its premier performance model to almost nothing. Far and away, the vast majority of Mustangs are 6 cylinder in the lower trim, and lower profit, models.)

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Thanks. It has been a tough month-and-a-half. I never expected I would have a new vehicle that has been out of commission this long. It hasn't entirely soured me on Jeep because I know these things happen and I will probably get another.

The ONLY inexcusable thing in all this is Chrysler's response -- closing my "top care" ticket after the second issue, telling me, "oh feel free to call back with any issues," and then not taking my calls, Jeep Facebook saying they'll get back to me and no one does, the dealer not being able to tell me when they might have a Chrysler engineer get a look at my car, etc.

I feel like I'm screaming in the dark and no one is listening. I paid $40K for a vehicle whose manufacturer just doesn't care (so far). THAT is the only thing that I am REALLY upset about. I can understand these things happen and that I'm the very rare .whatever%. I get it.

But when I am that person, I expect to at least be heard.

So far, I am not being heard, and Chrysler/Jeep does not care.

I am waiting for them to call me -- for SOMEONE to say -- jeez, we really messed up here but better late than never, we're going to make this right.

How many times do I have to say it?

Chrysler, I am waiting. Please call me. Please make this right.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

I wonder how many of the non responses on Chrysler's part are due to the lawyer being involved. Tends to happen a lot as no one wants to be on the hook for anything they say due to the legalities of the whole thing. Just food for thought i guess

That has definitely crossed my mind many times. Perhaps at this point, Chrysler is like, "what does he want? He's requesting a buyback -- let that run its course and we won't be on the hook for anything else."

The point is, nothing has been filed yet, and even if it was, there is nothing stopping Chrysler from contacting my lawyer (or me) and saying, "we want to take care of your client -- what can we do?" Things get settled like this all the time.

The letter was a request for Chrysler to buy back the vehicle because I had no other choice. If I had *any* indication from Chrysler that they were interested in settling this and taking care of me, I'm sure they would have by now.

The lawyer has not heard from Chrysler either, so that speaks volumes as far as I'm concerned.

I was all set to buy a 2014 JGC SRT, but after reading this and several other threads reporting issues, I think I will wait a while.

All my previous cars has been Toyota's, 3 of them with 400,000 + km's with
not much more then routine maintenance.

I think the 2014 JGC is well above the competition as far as design and features, but all these issues have me concerned.

Shawn.

No need to wait . Because one guy has a huge issue with his truck ( indeed that was very nasty with the car stopping on the highway ) doesn't mean all 2014 are the same . Mine has almost 3k miles and 0 issues . Yeah wipers might be lazy sometimes or the day/night sensor too sensible , but besides that I had no issues ! Drives like a dream ! Don't go to the dark side ! Stay with Jeep

If I were you I would wait. I was talking to my service manager the other day, he has a 2013 Charger SRT, and he mentioned if I could have waited 6 months before getting my 2014 Summit, all the little bugs would have been figured out. He is having a problem with his phone sometimes getting dropped from the Uconnect in his SRT. Of course, Chrysler can't figure it out.

Seems pretty bad when even a service manager can't get a problem figured out by Chrysler. He has been a service manager for the same dealer for 26 years and said it always takes Chrysler at least 6 months to get the bugs out of any new system that they design into their vehicles. Not what a customer wants to hear but I appreciate his honesty.

All new models have bugs believe that nothing that should dissuade you from buying aside from some of the extreme cases here it's still a great brand.

I wonder if you've missed the points. First, the odds of getting an issue free 2014 JGC is much lower than getting an issue free competitor. Second, the Jeep dealers, generally, seem much less likely to help the customer.

Yes, there are better dealers who seem to be "pro-active". But, the vast majority of Jeep dealers, don't seem to be able to help most of their customers. Who wants to spend hours and hours of time trying to get their JGC to run properly.

These appear to be electrical/communication issues. If electrical, the Factory could deal with groundings, connections, etc. to help reduce the issues. The dealers could work into the PDI to get happier customers and avoid warranty claims (even tho the mechanics make a lot of money performing warranty claims) which disappoint the customers and frustrate the dealer employees. Now, they could be communication, like the BMW MMI and the recent Ford problems. If that's the case, we'll its not likely any relief is in sight. If Ford and BMW, with many more resources than Chrysler, can't get MyFordTouch and MMI to work, then I don't know what chance Chrysler has.
