Please remember its the second most complained about brand to NHTSA, right behind MINI, which seems to have a terrible reputation for reliability.

There are plenty of people on this forum and alot who aren't who have been worry free with their jeep. Customer service depends on who you're talking to whether it be jeep, SAMs club or the hairclub for men.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

I'm not saying these issues (espicially on a new product) are specific to Jeep or Chysler. I also do agree that most people that are happy with a product, don't take the time to write reviews, it's mostly the people that are upset that take the time.
Having said that, I do feel that Jeep doesn't have the same caliber of dealer network/service as say MB. Lexus etc. espicially with a $80k price point for an SRT.
Another thing that concerns me is resale, I do feel that an $80k Jeep will depreciate much quicker then other SUVs in the same price range.

Again, I'm not knocking the JGC, I think it's great, years ago Jeep wasn't even on my radar , I just personally want to hear of less issues before I make the leap.

Shawn no matter what you hear...ultimately you have to make up your own mind, test drive a few times if you must, make an informed decision for yourself but not based off of someone elses experiences and tribulations

Good Luck - Forums are primarily used to report/research issues and find solutions to fellow owners. Not to HiJack AMC's thread, but as has been said before, go to other car makers forums and you will STILL hear of people having issues, however minor they are. AND forums make up a small percentage of actual sales really.

Unless something serious happens, I am looking at JGC based on an older/wiser friend of mine who has had great experiences with his 2000 and 2008 JGC and both his sons also have JGCs and have no issues. I mentioned the issues on the MY14 to him and he reiterated why he buys 1-2 model year older o get the bugs fixed-but agreed with my choice as I wanted to purchase the truck with the options I want to keep it for at least 10 years like he does.

With new technology, issues will occur-the UConnect was my biggest concern along with the TFT screen as too much new "tech" the truck depends on. However, issues on UConnect are slowly getting fixed.

Of the number if MY14 owners here, AMC (and 1-2 others) has had what I would consider "serious" issues. BUT, as he himself admits, that 1 in a million chances in this case so happens to be him.

At the moment, and who knows as my opinion changes every minute depending on how ticked off I am at Chrysler, it is not the problems that will keep me from getting another GC, it is Chrysler's handling of the situation. Every new launch or refresh is going to have its issues. If I get a new GC I expect there will be an issue or two (but hopefully nothing compared to this).

It seems that Jeep has more of a quality control issue than a lot of other brands still, but really ALL brands are still better than they were a decade ago and the chances of going through what I have gone through are very slim. Yes, you might have a nagging Uconnect issue until the first software update is released, or your Hemi might blow black smoke on startup until they figure that out, but I wouldn't let that stop you from picking up a GC as these are minor annoyances. True they will probably be fixed in six months, but really, the GC is an amazing vehicle. My wife and I still can't believe how much we love it (even after only having it about ten days total in six weeks now) and we will get another as of right now, assuming we can get the %$#@ company to answer us on our request to buy this one back.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Are a couple more threads on JP now that mention bad grounds or voltage faults and even on old car forums I have never heard of so many.

Makes me wonder if the new integrated electronics might have some unitended loops or just need more power conditioning.

The fact is that the new designs use ever smaller design rules (Intel Bay Trail Chipset use a 22 nanometer (1,000 nm to a micron) lithography which is getting quite small (a single water molecule is about 2.5 nm).

Smaller design rules make barriers easier to punch through which is Not Good.

Bottom line is that a bad ground could cause local events that even a 2011 computer would shrug off.

Not saying this is happening, just seeing a lot of similar threads and mostly with '14 Overlands, Summits, and loaded Limiteds but no Laredos. Of course only CJF knows unless AMC's lawyer requests their service records.

Which gets us back to the second most complained about vehicle.

My brain has already convinced me to never buy a MINI, until there are much more trouble free; even though MINI's dealers receive far fewer complaints than Jeep dealers. So, why am I still considering the second most complained about vehicle?

Which gets us back to whether this is a software issue, like BMW's, Audi's and Ford's, which never seemed to get fully resolved, or a hardware issue, which would require Chrysler to update their computer software and re-educate dealer service personnel. Which gets us back to the quality, or lack, of Jeep dealer service.
