Because, on paper, it seems to answer all my needs. And, I enjoyed my prior two Jeeps.

But, other cars, like the MINI, answer my needs for something small, sporty, efficient and fun to drive. And, I won't even a consider a MINI.

It must be the lack of JGC competitors, for what I want it to do, and my prior Jeep enjoyment. That's my dilemma. Since I never owned, and never enjoyed driving, a MINI, its easier for me to dismiss MINI.

Plus, my old, and good, Jeep dealer sold out to a mega-chain, leaving me to the mercy of a non-caring service department.

That's just it - there doesn't seem to be any valid competitor. The GC is just an awesome vehicle when it doesn't have issues. Comfortable, roomy, AWD, fuel economy that matches or beats anything in its class, soft touch plastics, great seats, fantastic infotainment system, near-luxury feel (luxury on higher models), taut handling, top-tier styling....

Try driving your mini in 10 inches of snow or areas where there's lots of storms or flooding while you're floating by, us jeep owners will be waving bye bye at you.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

I tried to start my Jeep this morning and got a message "No Fob Detected" ... damn

I forgot to stick the fob in my pocket.

ANYBODY who does ANY research online can read literally thousands of horror stories concerning that piece of crap.

Sure hope Jeep doesn't have that problem.

So far, my Summit (150 miles, VIN 198+) is super.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

My smartphone, MiFi hotspot, and tablets have been completely reliable but then I still have a Columbia VP-1600 I bought in 1983. Personally think automakers should leave electronics to professionals & would prefer it just have a universal locking docking station.

Today I need to drop my tablet in my jacket pocket when handing the fob to a valet.

AMEN! If I could just pop in my Nexus4 or Nexus7 I would be totally fine. No need for anything else.

It'd be interesting to see how the Tablet-vehicle integration develops. I forget the manufacturer, BMW or Honda, but I read they are working with Apple where you dock an iPad on the dash as your console control. Lets just hope the UConnect issues font become FUBAR like Windows ME...
