I thought it was a given Chrysler has an exclusive with Lucas (aka Prince of Darkness). I noticed you're a relatively new member, so I won't ask if you've seen the various electrical/communication posts.

What?!? That's absurd. My guess is that they're blaming as many disparate systems as possible to avoid a lemon law claim.

Grrr, i know how crappy your position is... Your Grand has been in the shop for basically a month, in my mind they should pay the months loan payment... I have billed doctors for making me wait for an appointment when they charge a noshow/late fee. I personally don't accept the belief that everyone (aka most businesses) feel they are entitled to charge me when I don't meet their terms, but they feel exempt from consequences from their problems that are equal to or worse than what they impose on me.

I would not have put up with this as long as you have. I would have had the dealer replace the vehicle.Let them deal with Chrysler. I would have also called my bank or who ever you financed it with and stated you case! They hate to hear from disgruntled customers. I had sort of the same issue with a new Lincoln and the dealer and Ford replaced it.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

I can put up with the mis-aligned window moldings and tailgate, the carpet cut short in the drivers side foot well, the clunk in the tranny and the gremlins affecting the radio, navigation and phone but they cross the line when the damn thing leaves me, my wife or family stranded.
Someone on this Forum and I think this person was from the factory stated Chrysler knew there was a problem with the high end radio/navigation when the 14's were released and the comment was "do you expect them to hold up on production" ? ? Yes they should have delayed the radio until they had the bugs are worked out. What other system had issues they knew about?
Chrysler and their dealers both have terrible Customer Service and need to work on it if they want customers back. In some respects it is Non-Existent. This is my Third GC and if it does not improve, I won't be back.
My 2014 GC is a great SUV But it has to many issues for a 40K vehicle!

You make it sound like it was his choice to keep it.

"I would have had the dealer replace the vehicle"
That is easier said than done, when you deal with dealers and corp that will not take the jeep back. In this case it is not up to us.

He just doesn't know what is available to him! The DEALER should have stepped in!
Not the Managers but the Owner of the Dealership. It is nothing for a Manufacturer to replace a vehicle. So many of these end up as "Program Cars" No dealer wants bad press!
I know because I've been there and have had two vehicles replaced by the dealer because I was not going through what this man has.
The general population does not realize how much power a dealer has with a manufacturer.

To marosenb,
Oh, I see by your profile you are in Finance? Dealer?
Everyone made a profit on this mans 2014 GC and he's not able to drive it ! What do you think he should do?

Ha, no, I am not a dealer. I am going through something very similar to AMC. The dealer has my Jeep right now, the 4th time overall, and about 22-23 days overall. My point is that if the dealer says they will not replace the car, just continue to fix it, and the manufacturer says the same thing, then he is unfortunately stuck, until it is legally a lemon. Just because you think the dealer should have stepped in, and you think it is nothing for them to replace the jeep does not mean that is what they will do. We all know what SHOULD happen. In AMC's case, they don't care about the bad press. They are refusing to give him a new vehicle.

AMC and I have both tried to talk to dealers, dealership owners, Chrysler corporate, and everywhere inbetween. Some of the answers we have gotten were downright shocking.

I feel for AMC. At least in my case, both Chrysler and the dealer seem like earlier today they are listening and willing to find a way to make this right. Hopefully I am not being overly optimistic. Hopefully they start doing the right thing by AMC too.

It sure seems like Chrysler don't care, especially disheartening with the recent refusal of the recall.

AMC-that makes how many components now that they are claiming to be the cause? I find it ridiculous they give you the runaround considering the huge safety issue it initially caused. What happens of its not the transfercase? Will Chrysler blame another component on the vehicle? Tires??? I would call the leasing bank and make them aware of the situation if you haven't done so yet.

Maron- you're from a dealer :O. Lol. I hope you both get the truck you're paying for soon.

Yes, the dealer refuses to replace it, they are claiming they can only do what Chrysler tells them and I am not interested in making the effort to go scorched earth with them as there are a lot of nice folks there and I think it would just reflect badly on me. My recourse here is a legal one now, unfortunate or not. marosenb got the right person at Chrysler to help him, or was more patient, or was luckier than I was. There is only so much you can do when this happens. Probably going to a lawyer will eventually actually take longer than if I had just raised hell, but no one was listening to me and my rep closed my case. And yeah, it was the seriousness of the matter that made me do that. I could deal with a few minor issues, but after the first shutdown, I pretty much begged Chrysler to take a close look at this vehicle. They promised they would. When it happened again, in traffic with my wife driving and my 5 year old in the car? That was it as far as I was concerned. I made a case to my rep for a replacement, and he agreed, but then the local district manager said no way in hell, this is a warranty issue and we can fix anything. We will fix it. And when he realized I was pissed at hearing this, he stopped taking my calls and closed my case. That's when I talked with a lawyer. This wasn't a simple warranty claim. It was a serious safety issue now. Whatever emotion you have, you can't just hand the keys and demand another car of the dealer. It doesn't work like that.

And yes, I contacted the finance company weeks ago. They didn't care. They get their money from me every month and apparently don't care about what happens if it becomes a lemon since they will get their payout.

As for components, I hope this is the last and that the car will be fine now. The grounding issue was found, so hopefully the car wont shut off while driving anymore. That issue probably fried the ABS and transfer case control module, both replaced, and the last two issues were for service 4WD light and now they're replacing the whole damn transfer case.

I told my wife I hope this is the end of it, and I have every reason to believe the only issue we might expect now is an occasional NAV reboot, which might even be fixed now with the software update. If it turns out to be OK, I am still seeking an exchange only because I paid for a new car, because there will always be a lingering doubt in the back of my head about it, and because it will probably have 500 dealer miles on it now. I didn't pay for a demo model.

Let's not jinx it just yet, they have not actually done anything, it just sounds like they are finally willing to do something...

As far as the range of things they are trying to replace: That seems to be their M.O. when they are unsure of the fix. I would not be surprised at all if they came back this time and said they have to replace the electronic shifter. I don't know enough about the mechanics, but i don't see how my issue can be blamed on oxygen sensors, ABS modules, Catalytic converters, and now shifters, all for the same problem.
