Oh, and a quick update: The salesman I worked with sent me an email today. The head of the service department told him that Chrysler is considering a buyback, but first they want to send their own technicians to personally inspect my jeep.

What, do they think the service department and I are in cahoots to fake error codes?
Hahaha.. Yeah. Like you wouldn't just rather be enjoying your vehicle.

This is the first survey of any kind I have received from Jeep.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

I ordered a 2014 Summit and I am feeling upset after reading these posts.
I am thinking of canceling the order even if I do lose my deposit.
Are all of the 2014's lemons?
Anyone have a new 2014 that has no problems?

Jeep is building and selling 1200 a day. Our issues are the minority. You might experience Uconnect issues, rattle in panoramic sunroof, rough shifting... These issues have fixes or upcoming fixes. You could get a "bad" one, but the odds are slim.

I guess the question you should ask yourself is... Do you feel lucky? Well do you? . J/K

Crossing fingers. This is day what, three or four? Eco shifts a little rough but otherwise the vehicle is great. I might try GCLimited's reset fix or just the fuse pull at some point.

My wife wanted to go to the beach today but it was our kid's bedtime in an hour and we decided not to go because he was up so early. She said it was just so beautiful out and all she wanted to do was roll down the windows, open the sunroof and just drive the Jeep.

Safe to say we are still in love with it and just hoping for the string of good luck to continue.

As for next steps, I can be patient now and just wait to hear from the lawyer... Temped to just say let's just put it all behind us, but there is this thought in the back of my head that it is still damaged goods... Trying to ignore that thought though.

Not everyone has problems I think amc got a true lemon, all makes have lemons here and there. I fell bad for amc and hope all his problems are behind him he went through a terrible experiance.
My 2014 summit has a mid March build date and I have over 2000 miles on it now. No probems at all not been back to the dealer once and love the truck. The only minor annoyances (not true problems) I would mention are little bit noisy goodyear tires (just the way they are not defective) which I will change when the time comes and 1-3 shifting had some lag (this was corrected by cycling power to the TCM which is a thread on here and is quick and easy. I like this truck a lot and I am sure you will also. Enjoy it

Agree with you on the damaged goods thing amc, if it were me I would let that lawyer do his thing especially since its already in process.

Yep. Pro column to letting it go: Want this to be over, don't want to negotiate another lease, don't want to risk lightning striking twice if we get a second one (I think I would slit my wrists if I gave up this one for another lemon). Pro column for letting lawyer do his thing: Chrysler owes us a new vehicle after what it put us through, I want to break in the vehicle myself instead of who knows who at the dealer (in case I do decide to buy it eventually for some reason), I want a vehicle that I know has no fried components and that is working as designed 100%, chance to get a Jeep from my closest dealer in case anything goes wrong going forward.

I thought as long as the dealer was relatively close it wouldn't be much of an issue. I mean, how often was I likely to go back to the dealer for anything?

I had a problem that prompted Jeep to send a new PCM. I was never not able to drive my Jeep, so between diagnoses and actually replacing the pcm I had three trips to the dealer. I was able to wait each time and the coffee was kept fresh.

Since then I have had a number of glitches which have somehow resolved themselves in a day or two. The latest is that the 'show turns in cluster' feature has shut itself off over night, the past two nights. Once checked in the morning it works all day with no problem. I will not be surprised if tomorrow morning I find it working normally.

So, I can't say I have no problems, but the problems I have now are minor and don't warrant a trip to the dealer.

I have also noticed that some of the problems being reported would not be problems if more people would take the time to read the owners manual. In other words, 'Owner Laziness' is often the real problem.

It is running fine now and I hope it stays that way for you but I would never trust it again after all that and who knows what else got fried that's just not showing itself yet? I love to roll the dice at the craps table in Vegas not so much with lemons that could leave me sitting somewhere.

Yes check out the thread on it below, just pull the negative battery terminal off for a while and it resets the TCM. Most people who have done it are reporting good results and much smoother/better shifting. I did it today and definitely a good improvement.

I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission
