Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Don't blame, you, I wouldn't touch it either

I know what you mean about being on eggshells... I can absolutely relate. Stepping back from the situation, I still think it is comical and sad that I am much happier putting my kids in a vehicle with over 50K miles on it, then in my own brand new Jeep.

I like the GC I am in as a loaner now... much better than the dented, beat up, smoke filled Chrysler minivan they had me in the last time

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

So today is one week since we got the Jeep back.

I'm not going to say it's perfect, because then something will go wrong, but my wife doesn't want to pursue the Lemon case anymore. Every day she just tells me how much she loves the vehicle and just wants to keep it.

From a financial standpoint mainly, I'm almost ready to do the same thing. I really don't want to negotiate another lease, have my credit run again, take the chance that I'll get a different vehicle with something wrong, etc. I just know I will end up losing more money somewhere. I was very happy with the lease deal I negotiated.

Someone tell me I'm insane, that given this vehicle's history, I should definitely take this all the way and let the lawyer do his thing. I haven't asked him if I'd owe him anything if I called this off, so there is that matter as well.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

If you like it then just tell the Chrysler rep you want a full warrenty for the lfe of the heep. After a week hopefully you are in the bottom of the bathtub curve and everything has been checked. By now all grounds should have been tightened.

I would have some way to monitor the engine parameters and error codes periodically just to be sure but one of the best daily drivers I had was a Vega GT (four speed & a/c) that had been totalled once before I got it.

BY now CJF should know about everything there is about bad grounds.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

Here are the possibilities, as I see them:

If you keep the lawyers involved and...
1. Your current jeep really is fine: You may still get a new vehicle, and Chrysler has to cover legal fees too. It does meet the criteria of a lemon.
2. Your current jeep is not completely fixed: You may still get a new vehicle, and Chrysler has to cover legal fees too.

If you stop the legal process and...
3. Your current jeep really is fine. You go on your way, and continue to be happy with your Jeep. You may owe the lawyer money.
4. Your current jeep is not completely fixed: You have to start over again, fighting with Chrysler for a replacement, or getting the lawyer involved again, from scratch. You may owe the lawyer money, from the work already done.

Option 1 and 2 don't sound so bad. Option 3 sounds pretty livable, depending on legal fees. Option 4 sucks.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the advice. All good points. I'm going to let the lawyer continue and see if Chrysler eventually responds.

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

in 1989 I bought a new mercury cougar as a young man.. I spent all my money on it and had nothing but problems. Had a leak they couldn't fix -- brakes squealed - engine mount issue - oil leak. All discouraging for a new car and I could have invoked the lemon law. As a young guy - I was attache dot the car and want dot keep it. Within a period of time - the dealer fixed ll the issues (few months I think)...

That car wound up being the most reliable car ever. I gave it up in 2004 (yes 15 years of service) - with ONLy doing brakes - tires - a battery or two - and oil changes. No problems after the initial issues.

You never know.

I do think all of the jeep issues will be resolved. Realize when you but a newly revised vehicle - you are cutting edge. This thing has a ton of tech in it - and the company that devised it - is surprising - since its so cutting edge. I do think that the problems will all surface and TSB/fixes will come out in time. Some have more issues than others - and maybe its a quality issue with the build. Bottom line - I do think everything will shake out.

Besides - its a lease - you aren't wedded to it forever

And also I want you to know -- I read your post BEFORE I purchased my summit. I read all the posts regarding 'issues' - I still bought my vehicle - because I believe in it. I do think this is one of Jeep/chryslers finest vehicles. I am in technology as a career - and Im impressed not only with the tech - but 100% of the vehicle. Its impressive in many ways.

I am in IT as well... Which is why I know to worry. :-)

But points taken. I know all these issues will be straightened out. Its the weird one-offs that worry me. Right now, my car is a "known" like you said with your car. I am pretty sure the issues have been caught. I'm running an old version of Uconnect as well and I am not about to upgrade it since its stable (at least so far).

Re: 2014 GC Totally $#@% dead

The bottom line is that your car is now a couple of months/thousand miles "old". If you had purchased the car then the best choice at this point would be option 1, replacement. But since you leased the car the situation is different, a new car would mean a new lease.

The key here is to recover your losses, what you were forced to spend on legal fees.

It is really your choice but you may want to continue the process in order to keep your options open.
